Pixel Art / [WIP]Frozyn - Patrick O'Grady Re-do
« on: February 22, 2009, 01:50:45 am »
Howdy, I decided to re-do an old sprite that I'd posted here a while back.  Haven't posted here in a long time.

Left: New version with background
Right: Comparison of new and old

The background needs some work, didn't spend much time on it.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Yeah, I like the loose one much better.  I usually sit with my arms in my lap, instead of to my sides, so this edited sitting stance could be a varient or somthing:

Looks great!  Nice style.  Shadows and stuff would definatly give it more depth and such, but its a WIP.

One thing I did notice was the smoker's much to static seated position.  Maybe have him lean over the table deep in conversation with the other guy, like in this quick edit:

Good luck,

shouldn't those reflections from second monster's eyes' be little higher?

Not if the one in the back is looking at the kids as well, right?

Anyway, love the peice.  Great work on the AA.  And depth, the fog is awesome.

Yeah, I agree with Turbo.  His looks like alot more strain is being put against moving the object.

Hey Sokota :P

Its ok, here are some crits.

1). The collar on the jacket needs to fold outward
2). His shoulders are really stiff
3). Looks flat
4). Needs shading (but your getting to that)
5). Thats like a monster zipper :P  Almost as big as his jacket pocket
6). The neck is pretty wierd.  Too boxy.

Here's an edit adressing some of the issues stated above:

Nice work, and keep it up.

Nice character Un.  I really love it.

I think it is pretty "serious" as it is, but if you wanted more I would suggest putting it into the animation.

I prefer the yellow shirt on your last update.

One other thing, if you put some kind of protective helmet on him it might give him a more "serious" look.  Just a thought.

Thanks Bouzolf :)

Here is another update.  I've tried putting in shading now.  I think it came out pretty well.

Update.  Added shoes, changed the pallete, and added minor details.  Forgot to do anything to the shoulders, but I kind of like them as they are.

Yeah, she hardly lifts her legs when she walks.  Almost looks like she's scooting along or somthing.  Not much, but a little more lift will probably look better.
