I'm so sorry... i'm late, but you're still going to receive something, setz!
This is a WIP of what i'm doing:

(war veteran VS hot witch)
I hope you still appreciate this! i'll keep working on it.
I'd even done a sketch of my first idea, but i stopped working on it because it wasn't good enough and i was  little frustrated : /

And of course, jeremy, jeremy. i'm in awe. that is pure beauty you have there. thank you!

I'm in!
I like machinery, electronics, and anything you'd feel like defining “artificial”;
scary or horrifying themes;
Baroque, eyvind earle;
and all kinds of original characters or scenes you'd like to draw : )
no fanarts, and don't do this in a rush, please.

sorry guys! i'm back, at last. been studying for my exam, and on holiday  :-[
since some background colors just killed the characters' readability, i'm having more vivid colors and black outlines here.
this was hard! and so full of detail. the wings are grey and sad on purpose, the whole thing will be easier to read that way.

please give advice and edits for i need it!

The blue highlights are interesting and i love palettes based on brown and blue. but I can still notice a little 'noisy texturing' as pointed out by Shiny. why don't you adopt a 'macchiaioli' approach, that would be drawing large splashes of color, with soft edges, that melt gently into each other? i think especially the darkest and lightest spots should be slightly hinted, and not accentuated. you've already done what i mean on those two lines over his right eye, you should do the same everywhere and soften the harsh dark lines. i've had time just for the nose and mouth, but i hope it will be useful anyway:

thank you Stratto. that was meant to be some kind of sel-out, exactly; still you made me notice that the arms were somehow wrong. i've tried to put them on different backgrounds, and they didn't work.
i guess they're more readable now. and, as you can see, i'm adding a demon boar and an angel.

about the setting: the bearded man is a playable character, and so is the angel. they live in a 19th century city that resembles rome, fight demons and stuff.
i don't know how to describe the overall feel of it... the main source of inspiration are baroque paintings, architecture and literature; bosch, for the demons; beat 'em ups, for some violence and for the gameplay.

i'm probably putting these in a mockup.
at the moment i didn't want to focus on the lantern's light because i wanted to have a sprite that worked in various poses, even without a lantern in his hand.

before the pixel process:

she has potential, but before you go on animating you should notice her legs don't fit her trunk, they're too large, and her arms could be less straight. i hope this helps

my edit's so bad next to jad's one... oh well, i wanted to post it anyway.

i killed your character (sorry! ^^') 'cause i thought you could take some inspiration from the face's shape and give him some facial expression, and that would be pretty nice. to reach a more mature look, lines aren't very curvy, and eyes are smaller.
you did some great improvement, but keep improving  :)

cool : ) it's and interesting and quite original face.
her forehead is too wide, you'd better move her hair down to get a more rectangular and shorter shape. the eyes don't seem aligned correctly, try moving her left one down... i'd also decrease the dinstance between them, but this is just cause i'd find them more appealing (but maybe you wouldn't). the dark lines on the eyes and the mouth are spoiling the face's 3d shape... use some AA and lighter colors. i can't help you with shadows because this kind of reflections is pretty new to me... :-[
