Judging by the pose I understand that this is a throne, but I dont see it as a throne mostly because of the shading but if your intent is to remove it, I wont insist.

Regarding anatomy, (I'm no expert... really) I can spot many problems of proportion and shape:

- head pose seems weird, looks like the head is simply a ball put on the chest.
- bust is very triangular, seems exagerated.
- left and right forearms + right arm need muscles and curves, AFAICS your forearms seem to be elongated wrists.
- right shoulder is not shaded as a shoulder, the left one (even if it seems too huge), on the contrary, make me think it IS a shoulder.
- left legs is somewhat deformed; I dont really sense the calf nor the ankle.

Overall, I like this orangish copperish palette, also general contrast seem ok to me.

Ok! Here we go then.

Gone to your url, First sight feeling: Ouch! I found the background very unpleasant to the eye (made me think WTF is this? ;)), the pattern you've chosen attracts the eye so much that its difficult to focus attention on the content. Please, emphasize the content not the background.

Second, after reading and watching the drawings, I got somewhat confused... The 2 images I've seen (heat and the warriors) didnt evoke pixel art at all (What exactly is Pixel Art?. So, please state here how you define pixel art.

left arm:
The wrist seems too luminous, as if it doesnt match the forearm lighting.
The fist doesnt look like a fist, IMO. maybe a matter of position and lighting.

Legs and feets:
Legs seem to be drawn from another angle than the body.
Calves are much thiner than the thigs.
Feets are too long.

Here is what I feel:
Seems that your wings look like bird wings (too much whitey probably). That could be annoying but it depends on the general graphic ambiance you'd like to transmit with this shootem'up attempt.
Cockpit is absent, yes.
Too much close range colors, narrowing your color count could improve sharpness and remove the feeling of blurry colouring.
Eventually, Perspective seems wrong to me, It feels like the lighting of the back dont match the lighting of the head.

Good luck with this!

Talking about videogame bird animation reference, maybe you can learn from this owl, ripped from Agony (Amiga):
steps or in action:

any ideas of how to run Hardwired on WinUAE? I'm ticking the full ECS chipset but no dice!

I've seen hardwired 2 months ago (under WinUAE) but it depends on the version you are using, whd version or standard disk version
anyway a basic OCS preset should run it!
