Pixel Art / 3 Combo Hammer Hit

Wow it's been forever since I last posted something here! I miss this place...

Anyway, I started up work on an old game and things are a little rusty. I could use some critique on this little animation. Its guy swinging a hammer. Its supposed to be a fast and powerful 3 hit combo, but I just can't seem to get that weighty feeling. The range of the attacks seem small now that I look at it.
 
Comments? Suggestions? Feel free to edit and/or rip it apart.

Hi all, currently working on the this title screen for an old project. I know its messy, but before I refine it, I'd like some opinions on the layout and design. Its the 4 heroes of the game surrounded by monsters with the title of the game at the top.

This is the design I have for the backround image of title screen for a game. I feel that the anatomy is way off, I want to get that down before I begin any pixel work/more detail. I forgot to draw her right hand, which she uses to smell a flower.

Working on a map for the land that a
game of mine takes place on, sort of based on ancient maps. I'm going to add landmarks, paths etc.

I need halp on how to make it look old and just general critique please.

General Discussion / Animation Tips and Tricks?

I'm working on a big game project, and the spriting is fun and a lot of times easy, but when it comes to animating, I hit a road block. Its generally where everything falls apart and becomes a mess. So my question is, do you have any tips or tricks or just general advice to help me out? What's your process when animating a sprite? Do you use any special tools? Thank you!

So I need to create a 4 frame run cycle as well as a 4 frame walk cycle but I have no idea how to start. Any good references?
