I did a major rework on the ramp tones and came up to this:


I'm working right now on the shade of the tree and as you can see the lower part is actually well integrated.
I also added redish pixels on the temple to give more light to it.
there're some colors that are very similar and I'm not sure to merge them into one
still to be done: the top part of the tree, the sky and the leaves on the background. and some small things on the bottom part.

When you look at the photo you will see that the colours are a lot more unified than in your picture. You seperated the temple and the tree very harshly. I think you should redo the ramp and unify it so that the colours mix more. Get some greens on the tree, some browns on the temple and so on.

This is what I made for the weekly compo on PJ.
Right now I'm stuck in color tones and if there're rifinitures I can do to improve it (i.e. sky?)

@Peach: that's a hell of a hixelwork! I know it's goddamn hard to keep the work in one piece all the time while working on such restrictions, but IMO it deserves more attention. I'd work a little more on lines (some of them still appear jagged) and anti-aliasing (some portions are over-aa'd, some are left plain). also, you should do something with the pillowshaded hixels nearly the beard.

hehe I just went crazy on this I choose the palette too early, and hence I think I should even rework the blues. let's see what I can do. I just need some spare time to dedicate onto it.
I really like the legs and the rays. but the dark blue... damn it's too saturated I think I'll also add another color in that ramp (just because I've there're only 14 colors + black in it sorta bonus)
