Pixel Art / Re: Top-down zombie game (W.I.P)

Minor Update :

I took the advise to tone down the skeleton. I tried to brighten things up a little, but I couldn't bear to push it as much 7321551 did. But let me know if its already better.

I thought I'd wait till I receive more comments before I reply but... lol. The forum seems to be less active then usual. Or is it just my thread?

Lotekk, thanks for the comment. I've tried fooling around more with what you mentioned, but I couldn't seems to do it right. But I'll post again when I have decent update on the characters.

Anyway, I'm changing this and making a Zombie TD instead. Has been working on the GUI and environment. The Characters are all place holders atm, but let me know what you think of it.

Thanks a lot guys :) I believe a big part of Tobe's sales actually come from forumers of Pixelation and Tigsource , lol.
Also, the game is patched for a while now and it supports analog stick and fixed a few bugs.

Ans yes - do support acquaintances... because it's a nice thing to do  :D

Pixel Art / Zombie Tower Defend game (W.I.P)
« on: January 26, 2010, 11:08:13 am »
I'm trying out some visual styling for my new zombie game... so here's some sample of the characters.

There's 4 character here, sharing the same color scheme till I get the styling right. They are, Man in spects, Cameraman, Biker and zombie.
I'm mainly trying out the way the guy holds his gun for the Man in spects. Tell me what you think.

Anyway, I was refering to the game - "chaos engine" for the view, but the style is completely different.
Does anyone knows where I can find more reference for this view? I haven't started yet, but I find the animation kinda awkward just thinking about it.

Thanks :)

Is it just me? I can't see the image (all I see is [image]).

edit: prove to be just me, because every thread turned out that way. But I can see it now :y:
quick comment from me... isn't the curve by the bottom right a bit too big? Also, TomF edit manage to brings out some of the details you drew, but they're not obvious enough, probably due to the color choice

Looks like a nice game. Love the main character.
Do the Xbox Indie titles actually sell at all? Have you looked at the PS3 Minis?

We put out a game on the iphone and it got great reviews, but only managed to sell enough copies to cover the Mac mini and the app store license. Not a complete failure though :)
Thanks for the love ;) Sadly, the game didn't sell as much as we hope, even when we weren't expecting a lot, lol. I guess that's just the case for XBLIG, the userbase is really small, and game just get flush out of the "new arrival" really fast. I'm not too bothered though, since we manage to snatch some pretty decent reviews from reviewers and players. The obvious next move would be to bring the game to PC, but honestly, I don't have a programmer to do that now and I'm still trying to figure that out :/

If you need any code for another project you're doing, fire me a PM ;)
I'm currently hoping to work on other platform, like....flash, Iphone, window mobile(which uses XNA), but who knows. If you're interest, we can work on a port?

Smiker : Thanks! The idea of the game was to create a tribute for the games I played as a child :)

I'm no good with animation either, but I realize some other problem.

The character's body sort of blend into the background, so I would reconsider the color/darkness if I were you. Don't get me wrong though, the character looks great :)

great to see some old school zelda styling :)

I thought it looks pretty decent. My own issue is that it lacks characteristic.
If you looks at Link, you can tell he has a pair of long ears, and a hat... plus that he's dress in green... you can convince that he's an elf.

Yours on the other hand looks very much like any other girl.

Hope the comment is not too late for changes though :)

wao, I certainly love the design and styling ... but perhaps not so much of the colors though, hehe.
Then again, the colors looks nice on the pixel art, but I thought the pixel styling should look more similar to the original artwork. The current version looks something from FFTactics, and doesn't do justice to your drawing. Not that it's not nice though. Just that I'm too in love with the original  ;D

7321551 : Oh yea... I just checked again. The screen was actually sharp and all, but the post here got shrink down by photobucket. Dammit.

Jakten : I wasn't the programmer, so I wouldn't know. But the programmers were going really crazy by the end of things, so... yea, it didn't seems easy to me. lol
