Daaah, might as well post this before I really start to loathe it.

I want to add the scarf (as you can see my avatar,) and maybe a loose belt around her hips. :-X What do you guys think? C&C welcome~

EDIT: New and improved. I fiddled with it so it would look a bit better on a dark background, so it looks a little funky around the edges on the light grey.

General Discussion / Re: help needed with the fire animation

After looking around on google, this gif was one of the better ones you can work off of. ;)

You have to remember that fire is wild, but that doesn't mean the flames will move completely randomly. The seperate flames will sort of "writhe" upward, and they become smaller as they go, some seperating and disappearing as little fire bits. There's my two cents~

Ahh, so you wanted him floating? You can actually take lotsa liberties with floating~

I think what would really help this sprite is some dynamic motion. To show you what I mean, I doodled this, as I am not too good at explaining what I mean in words.

This is (pretty much) the same pose you had originally, just from a different angle, and his head is turned slightly towards the camera. I also tried to make his legs not as bent and more relaxed... I hope you can get some ideas from this. :-X

General Discussion / Re: Animation and small size sprites

Not that I'm an expert or anything, but the first thing I want to point out is that this looks more like running than walking considering how fast the animation is.  :-\ There should be more of a pause when they take a step down, and the body should kind of "pop" up when they start taking the next step. The second, smaller pair of legs is animated pretty well, but it would be easier to tell just how well they work if we had the rest of the body to judge by.

I agree with sonic_reaper. o: It looks less awkward when his legs aren't bent so hard. But it's kinda boring... maybe you could try doing something with the other arm that's just hanging there? ;)

Um, would i be able to participate aswel? I've always wanted to make a fighter sprite, so here's my first ever one, and i thought it was worth joining in.

Ok, and here's the portrait done:

The sprite looks like a female version of Serge from Chrono Cross  :D
... you're right. O: I have my (beloved) Serge figurine sitting right next to me, and I have to say she does! That really isn't a bad thing, though. She's quite awesome nonetheless.

I think I might take a stab at making one of these suckas. >:
