« on: May 20, 2008, 01:42:13 am »
Thanks again Fool, I'll try to lower the color count and do all that...

Sharprm, Ima usin a white backround 'cause...that's what was there when I opened graphics gale.  :-\
Thank you, I'm trying  :) and I'll take that advice. And use it.

I'll be back with an update eventually, haven't had much time lately...actually I haven't touched a pixel (lol) since i posted that edit.

Reminds me of gorillaz.
That's exactly what I thought when I saw this!  :P

Well then. This is much better than my first attempt (yesterday  :D)

The hair/pants do look -better- but not best. Uhhh, but I can't help much there sorry  :-[
His shirt hurts my feelings btw.

Thank you very much for that edit Fool, appreciate it. You actually have made my favorite pixel art piece ever  :P , that Adam and Eve picture is what I show my friends when they ask what pixel art is.  Yeah, I'ma trying to do as many tut's as I can T_T Are there any specific tut's you recommend?  :-\

Thank you very much, infinity+1, this'll be helpful when I try to practice some smaller, more realistic headsized, sprites. I also stole your skin tones XP. Now you may say, "NO MAJORIS! This was a rush job, there are many more, more finished pieces you can look at!" but it actually works better in my brain to see what I've created, and then the way someone else has created it...if that makes sense, so thank you.  :D

Okay, now, I tried not to "copy" to many things  :yell: ....the things that are blatantly copied [because once I saw it done your way, my brain blocked out any other way] was the eyes [which, even though copied, don't look as good as yours because of my crappy shading around it], the feet shape, aaaaand the technique of coloring the wings. Probably a few more things I forgot about too... So yes, the face and hair are WIP (well teh whole thing is, just I haven't put the effort into the hair/face yet, mostly because I really don't know how to...yet)

Any more C+C please? I know this is still crap, and it will be crap, I just want to finish it, so i can say i finished my first real attempt at Pixeling!!! Damn, this would actually be the first piece of art I've ever finished. It's sad, I know.

Btw, where the hell did these 270 page views come from? It freaks me out that there are that many people just reading what we say, and we don't know they're there  :-X

Pixel Art / It's quite obvious I need some help here

Hello. First pixel attempt here, I know I really should try finishing something before posting it, but I've decided I lack artistic vision right now, and just need some help.  :yell: Sooo, I know big problems with this are:
1. The subject sucks. I know  :-[
2. Bad rendition of subject. [lines]
3. Bad palette.
4. Bad coloring with that bad palette.

Now that I know what's wrong with it [is there more?], I need some help with it. Well, right now just regarding the last 3. Thank you  :D

I like this forum too. I've actually been "lurking" for about 1-2 years [i think], and I've just started to post... Oh, and I've just started to make pixel art too XD

Kay, thanks ptoing and Dusty.

Yeah, I'm going to try out teh free version of ProMotion and GraphicsGale, and then make my choice. I really don't like photoshop anyway T_T
About the opacity thing, would this: http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/17198.htm# be an example of translucent overlay?
And would this: http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/13016.htm be an example of a pixeled by hand translucent-ness? (actually that is kinda obvious... as well >_>)

I see what you mean by more control over colors and what not...

@ptoing, I'm not scared of you, so much as I am scared of making you angry. I.E. That guy who got pinned on the "Pixel Art" section for ripping. Actually that was mostly Helm O_o And yeah, I know that was a kind of [okay actually a REALLY] obvious "DON'T EVER DO THIS" kind of thing. I like your avatar a lot btw. Helms scares me.

Thank you both...alot!  :D

My responses in order:
-I did mean lower the opacity btw.
-K, thanks for teh feedback, that's what I thought as well.
-Okay, that's awesome, I have photoshop, but Ima try out that program as well

EDIT: So do y'all use promotion for everything you, pixel wise??? Is there anyone else who prefers something else? If so what?

General Discussion / A few questions
« on: May 10, 2008, 09:42:37 pm »
Greetings. I just have a few newbie question about Pixel Art-ing in general, and I've come here to ask them! Mostly because this is one of the only forums for Pixel Art out there [maybe?], and because people like Helm and ptoing reside here (even though they scare me :blind:)
Here they are:
-Does using translucent layers to make, say a window or water count as "dirty tooling"?
-Is resizing a reference photo (or another form of visual that isn't a "pixel") and tracing a certain element [as if this were something I drew/scanned]...bad? What if you took this photo yourself? (I haven't done that, [mostly because I've pixeled like...one thing], but I draw my own stuff, just asking)
-What program is used for like...changing the colors of the pixel? By that I mean, I see all these posts where ptoing [and others] take a decently big piece of pixel art, and post a "color edit"...as seen 3 posts down here: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=6280.0...  I know there's a post that lists a bunch of software, but I don't really know what's what there

There were alot more, I've just forgotten for now. Thanks for reading this, and/or answering.  ;D

Pixel Art / Re: Walking Animation- Help
« on: May 09, 2008, 09:55:28 pm »
I'm not super experienced (at all) in animations (let alone pixeling), but I can see here that the feet shouldn't be going out at a 45degree angle...I think it would look better if they were to come forward, and not to the side. Also the arms aren't looking quite right...

Is this a human ???

Pixel Art / Re: Tiles
« on: May 09, 2008, 08:35:39 pm »
Yay, you followed my advice!!  ;D

I can't really spot anything wrong with the tiling much...
And, what do you mean by "holes at the bottom"? If you mean teh white space, it will depend on whats behind it
