Pixel Art / couple of sprites
« on: August 09, 2007, 05:11:20 pm »
i thought it would be interesting to show people how i work (not that anybody probably cares!), so ive made 1.5 complete sprites of a couple of my characters with the progress steps.  i have also blocked out some very basic mockup map - which you will be able to see develope into something a bit less crappy (i hope).

would like some good ol' fashioned constructive critism please.

Pixel Art / [almost-finished] not another iso room.
« on: March 15, 2007, 09:45:07 pm »
yes it is another isometric room with stereotypical furniture + a mac  :D

Quite heavily Army-of-Trolls inspired.

will add shadows last, and yeah the NES is a tad oversized - but it needs to be recognisable as im going to turn this into my website layout with clickable furniture etc...

Thanks to ptoing for a nice edit.

this is a WIP, but please don't hold back on the critique.

General Discussion / Tablets
« on: February 08, 2007, 12:29:14 am »
I'm thinking about buying a tablet, which ones would you recommend and why?  are there many benefits of having a tablet as opposed to paper/scanner?  are tablets hard to use, and do they take long to learn to use properly?

Can i use a tablet with any software, eg. photoshop - or is there special software that comes with it? I also use Mac and would appreciate some info from mac-people if they have had any trouble or any models to recommend.

I have never even touched one - but i think it would be a good way of broadening my artistical horizons, (my desk cant really take much more paper!), whilst also remaining within the digital art sector.

Thanks
Feron

General Discussion / Looking for someone to collab with.
« on: December 31, 2006, 12:33:21 am »
im feeling like doing a collaberation with someone/s .  If your up for it please feel free to pm ideas, or even better, post them here.  maybe we could get a small group (5 maximum).  just something to work on over the next couple of weeks, casual no pressre.  Also if people have any new ways to do a collab - rather than just the tile based image and each person pixels in their own tile. i would love to here them.  ive been thinking about different ways for a while and have yet to come up with anything.

Pixel Art / not another mockup; work in progress
« on: November 05, 2006, 09:31:11 pm »
there seems to be a flood up mockups recently, and heres another one.
its GBA screen size - but i don't know if the GBA has any restrictions so it doesnt follow any.  I really need help with the enemy sprite as it sucks at the moment.

i know the shuriken's are similar to the forums - but i havent actually seen one of them in a while since the new rice dumpling icons were introduced.

Ps. happy guy fawks night to us brits!

EDIT:  Thanks to vedsten for some nice colors on the brickworks!

Just thought it would be cool to start a discussion on the conditions in which everybody works.

Myself, i like to be full of sugar quite hyper, with loud music.  That makes my creative juices flow more.  normally up beat fast punk-rock and alternative.

However if im up against a deadline with a fixed object to create i find the Lord of the Rings soundtrack makes good music.
I can never work when i'm hungry or cold.
Darkness is also another condition in which lots of my work takes place.

Pixel Art / [Finished?] The treeman
« on: September 24, 2006, 09:50:00 pm »
Title says it all.  Still in production so no "add texture to the rest of it" please.  I'd mainly like comments on the anatomy and form.. but all C&C is appreciated.

Edit:

Early wip stages:

Finished?

Pixel Art / captain Hammer - Run anim/mockup
« on: August 08, 2006, 11:05:39 am »
This is a character i invented, called captain hammer.  I am making a game with Bluestardev.net and this is the main run animation.  Quite tricky because there are no references to people running with giant hammers so the mirror was my friend.  It still needs a bit more work - just thought I'd get some crits while im still working on it.

Pixel Art / First attempt with C64 limits
« on: July 26, 2006, 01:02:22 am »
Well after reading lots of stuff by ptoing in the other section i decided to try something with C64 limitations.  I speant a few hours looking at a lot of helm's and ptoing's  :P works.

Well here it is -

I've still got to finish the sky - critiques and comments/suggestions are always appreciated.
It should be exact with the limits - but if someone with more knowledge/experience spots any mistakes or has any tips they would be most helpful.
