I've finally gotten around to playing Dark Souls, today. Picked it up on the Steam sale earlier this week for the cheap. So far, I'm completely enamored with it!

Are you playing with a controller or keyboard/mouse? I really wanted to play it but I don't have a controller.  :(

Yeah I call it done..  I fixed a lot of rocks and now Im going to add grass  bottom of the cliff... but I would like to hear some critic if there are something..

Definitely an improvement. The repetition is so subtle as to be a non-issue now. You could maybe add a few more sharp edges so it doesn't look quite so blobby near the top.

tim I believe you're thinking too restrained with the semantics here. Just because an artist says something is inspired by or is meant to resemble steampunk/gothic style doesn't mean it has to follow your idealized version of what that is. Let him make whatever he wants to make, the description is secondary. You don't have to 'protect' anything because nothing is being attacked.

To get on topic I feel like Sir Gregory's chin is pressed too far into his neck at the bottom, it looks quite awkward as a result. His pose gives me the impression he should be more relaxed than that.

Some progress on the sideways biting animation:

Still unsure about using blurs :-S

Ahh I love it. I think you could work with the blur on the pullback and make it more like an exaggerated stretch of the plants face/jaw when it grabs onto its target. At the moment it sticks a bit too much.

Im not sure about this but I think the way u originally had it is better for large areas of single repeated tile as there is less noticable "pattern".
When u add stronger shadowy areas you will need more variation tiles to break up the repeats.

Actually from looking at his new version I think the more obvious darker areas make it seem less repetitive. I think it's because the eye focuses on the 2 differing levels rather than the 4 tiles... or something. At any rate, I like it like that personally.

Hey man your progress on this has been great. :y:
Just thought I'd pop in and say that those walls look very pillow shaded. As a result everything kinda looks disconnected. You'll notice in the Zelda screens PypeBros linked that they tend to have a single gradient from light at the top to dark at the bottom. The effect you have looks nice in small areas, such as where the torches are, however I'd avoid making it so intense everywhere.
Keep it up!  ^-^

Has anyone using the newer Wacom tablets ever had a problem with the nibs? There's a lot of stuff on the net with people complaining that the nibs wear down way too fast. I'd find it very odd, especially considering I've had my Wacom Graphire4 for years, and although the rubber on the pen grip has long since dissolved, the nib is still pretty much the same as it was when I got it (or at least it feels like that). This may be because of the plastic covering I have on the tablet (which came with it, I might add).

I'd say show more of the eel-guy's inner cheek or upper lip/mouth on the other side, like in the concept. Will give some more depth to his head.

Love these cure. Some of them seem to have thicker outlines than others, was that your intention? Mainly the top row has thinner outlines.
