Pixel Art / Re: How would you..

Are your regional language settings set to Japanese by any chance? I do it quite a bit to play certain independent games, and found that GraphicsGale adapts to the region you're set to.

Otherwise, I'm not sure.

*Rolls that ball*

Took about forty minutes or so. I think I might try to fix up the laziness that caused me to only have two frames for the second laugh he does. I should probably also make the belly move a bit better when he leans/stretches back.

Ah, nice edit on that run cycle. I have to say I was eagerly waiting for it while I was watching this thread because I've wondered how I could go about making my run and walk cycles more dynamic as I usually go about it the way Fry did for this one.

Really looking forward to the improved run cycle as well as the other animations.  :y:

Man, I should have done a bigger piece. And I agree, big time LOLS on the anatomy for mine. I was rushing to fix a problem I saw and ended up making the legs look terrible.

No doubt, though, I'll be improving this later tonight when I get home.

And maybe start working on the other 5 ideas that I rejected whilst coming up with this one...

General Discussion / Re: Force Majeure - Indie shmup demo
« on: February 02, 2007, 03:09:32 am »
I agree about the speed issues. I'm not super great at shmups, but I do play them pretty often. In this demo, I always see bullets coming and see what hole I want to escape through, but the ship is too slow to actually make it. In the end, it feels like the only way I can make it through those holes is to fully memorize the bullet patterns and to move way ahead of time which I think should only be a minuscule part of the shmup experience. I think it might be a wise decision to go with a speed option, or the recent trend of high speed along with a "slowdown" button for weaving through those extra tight spaces.

Great graphics, however I can't help but agree with Helm about them being a bit too similar to other games' graphics.

Just a little GraphicsGale protip here: go to All Frames -> Fit to image to get the canvas snuggly fit around everything but the bordering transparent color. And then you could always assign a hotkey to that option.

Hope that helps you in your future pieces.

Akzidenz: do you ever play online through MAME? I'd love to play LB2 against someone that's good.
