lines/bas-relief-indicating-panelled-sections textures are a great way to quickly fill in large surfaces when you have a restricted palette.
it remind me rather of Bitmap Brothers/Moebius.

the left eye goes too much on the right, and the right eye goes too much on the left... as a result she seems to have strabismus.

a lot of the malicious-ness is lost in your edit... Maybe work more on her smile, her eyes... i dunno, maybe it was the arm (since in many Renaissance paintings woman with arm raised up = erotic innuendo).

add more details, there is too much solid fills. everything looks like too clean. ground is too perfect... add more reliefs, and maybe some cracks might help to symbolize the Earth's pain.  :)

and maybe a vanishing point more raised down would make totem more impressive, it would fit well with the dramatic feel of the scene.

grainy textures and colors low-satured reminescent of adventure's games on Atari ST... i love that !  :)

maybe refines the grey thing to the left of the tree, the readibility is way low.

I rather think alignment of terrestral element (the pyramid) with astral element (the moon) would annouce a mystic evenment.
like alignment of stars or planets with archictectures (Stonehege and mayan temples). at Solstice happen a mysterious evenment.
This pyramid, here, sounds like monolith of Space Odyssey.
in this movie and The Fifth Element ( Luc Besson) there is alignment of planets with "terrestral element" which imply that something happen on a spiritual level.

skamocore's edit is beautiful, but pink make this more marvellous than mysterious.

maybe a perfect alignment of the moon with the pyramid would add mystic innuendo.
alignment of planets announce a mysterious and symbolic event.

i don't think demosceners have used highlights for this purpose. lot of demosceners have copied Boris Vallejo's style (overhighlighted pics). specular-dot-highlights were overused to make pics more glows, magics, "flash", hypnotics.

If i correctly understand, you prefer to start pics with "clusters-of-pixels" rather than "flat colors" (like painters). Pixel artists should work "areas-by-areas", rather than "from general to details" ?
