Pixel Art / Face shading
« on: January 26, 2018, 03:54:06 pm »
I made a caricature of one of my friends, but I don't exactly know how to proceed, looking for advice

don't know how to texture the hair and how to apply the shading on the cheekbones and on the forhead(can't add wrinkles without making him look old)

Light is coming from the front/top
I'd like to remove it from the site when its finished
I fear what I've created :|

oh shidd is that a muthufuggin jojos rafrance???

Really though, looking a lot better but it might behoove you to pair it with some of the walls before calling it done. That contrast be important, dawg
Here you go!
added the columns as vertical elements. The canal should work as the horizontal one

which floor is the best?

Thank you for the advice!
Did this before reading your comment, eishiya

I stubbornly tried to use a color from the original palette as "highlight".
Decided to make 16x16 tiles(found some spritesheets of the tileset from the game and made a few measurements)
Here's the same image with the color MisteryMeat added:

I wanted to make some floor tiles, but all of them look more like walls.
Im trying to make some graphics for a pokemon-similar game.

-The one in the middle was the first attempt, but the "bricks" were too small so I tried again
-The one on the left was my 2nd attempt, but the light direction(from above)makes it look more like a wall
-The one on the right is my latest attempt, but I still dont like it

The character's size is the same as a pokemon game character
Im using the same palette as pokemon platinum(do you know where I can find the full palette?)

It should be the floor of a sewer
Every tile should be 17x13 px
still trying

Pixel Art / Dithering abuse(don't kill me)
« on: January 23, 2018, 02:10:48 pm »
Here's a little pixel art I made within an hour on my phone.A friend said pixel art isnt real art,and I had to prove him wrong.
I wanted it to look coarse,so I used a lot of dithering(maybe too much)

as always,looking for feedback

I'm back with this little piece, looking for critique.
which palette is better in your opinion?

do you know what's the name of the type of tank that inspired me?
found out it may be have been inspired by the Bison(or sturmpanzer I)

I feel like it's not complete yet,but I'd like to have some feedback before going further

Fixed the hand on the hip,and tried to make fingers this time.

Next goal:fix the torso
The orange palette keeps bugging me:I'd like to raise contrast to make it look less like cardboard, but too much doesn't make the colors mix togheter
Im really struggling with it:I tried to apply the same ratios I used with the red palette, but the colors still don't work good togheter, why?

It just feels a bit unbalanced, with the legs leaning one way, but the torso not leaning/shifting the other way to compensate. In addition, the arm on her hip doesn't seem to be resting on the hip, is she just holding her fist next to her hip?
Thank you for replying; No,her arm should rest on the hip,how do I make it feel like it does?
I'll try to edit the torso, meanwhile here's a version with better palette

I have to admit I used a color ramp generator and then changed saturation to make contrast, because I couldn't get a decent orange palette. Is this bad?
