Pixel Art / Re: Weird monster

I really like the Arachne-line-art one (the way you colored/textured it is very different from the rest of the takes I've seen).

As for Mr. Wierd Moster, he seems to be missing something and I don't know what it is.

Best guesses:

Detailed eyes (instead of just white with a black dot).
AA'ed wrinkles?
Use shading instead of plain lines to give shape (especially to the folds around the purple things)
Darker shadows
The spouts the flames emerge from look very flat, and the flames themselves look like blood-soaked straw brooms. ^_^
I don't think the orange light from the flames plays into the rest of the picture enough.

All in all I would focus on:

Making the eyes and tentacles look more organically connected to the body (Right now they have a "drawn as an afterthought" look to them, even though you probably didn't draw them as an afterthought).
Giving him some more volume (darker shadows would help at least partially here, I think).
Flames (I know how hard fire is. I don't even try anymore =P But there are a number of posts here involving fire and I am sure you can find something to help you along).

Continue your very strange but good work.

Yes! Yellow and pink. It is like strawberry banana.

(I am overcome with a desire for taffy)

This is one of those pieces that is so near to flawless that I feel useless replying ;) except to say that it is outrageously nifty.

To be very picky, I don't think the foreground foot isn't highlighted properly in the flash (I think the top of the toe ought to be catching some light, but I'm not sure. Right now it makes his leg+foot look like one flat plank).

Quite incredible ^_^ I cast my vote for pure white light (though heck, why limit yourself to yellow or white? Pink would look cool and have +1 interesting factor)

I'm actually pleased that Lick has stuck to his guns. I know we needn't mollycoddle anybody, but this place at least moderately glorifies flat, clinical speech lacking compassionate undertones.

Anyway, QQ everybody and get back to the pixel mines =P

I personally would like to see you draw something new =)

Well, actually, I just want you to draw something new because I can't comment on this. It creeps me out so much that I can't make it to the C&C stage ^_^

Whoa, until 2 seconds ago I thought that the body was just a random little man, I didn't realize it was connected to the head =P

@ CrumbBread: About the incorrectly spelled word, yeah I'm sorry I was in a hurry, I just came back from 14 hours of Rotterdam and zoo! Wink

I just thought it was funny that the word you mispelled was the one you took the time to S-P-E-L-L. ^_^ Wow, that is a lot of zoo.

ok *runs away because he's OT*

Pixel Art / Re: Winged goblin - flight animation

That looks tons better, animation-wise! =) But like Zolthorg points out, the uneven speed doesn't work well. It makes him look like he is thinking about each flap before he decides to move his arms, and like he should be falling because he hesitates.

Other thing is, with the shine on his forehead, it seems like the wings should have a stronger highlight.

Thirdly, is it just me or is his arm a lot smaller than in was in the original? (in the original it was the same length bent at the elbow as the new arm is at full extension)

Sure you can dither like that =D Take a close look at how he uses midtones -- the actual dithering is no more complicated than what you did, just the placement and color is slightly different.

I love the chunky beard. *raises arms in victory*
