Pixel Art / Re: Some Works of mine

As far as I can tell, you have drawn one (1) pair of legs in your entire post history. *Please* draw the whole figure for once. It will help you with balance and proportion, and general posture. You have a very fun style (as evidenced by the bulldog) I just wish you'd see it through to the end. It's cool. It looks more organic (or something) than most pixel art.

I also wish you would crop your images down to get rid of all of that whitespace. It's faintly annoying =P

BTW, i have the right to be mad for what have been done to me, at least respect that.

You have the right to get over whatever it was and swallow your dignity along with the rest of your sandwich, and get back to doing something worthwhile instead of letting the internet run your life. <3

I'm going to play this game when I have time (not for a few days, since I am such an important and busy person and spend my time going Out Of Town on various and sundry Trips). It looks brutally charming. ^_^ Though I myself am not keen on black or very dark outlines...thus the Zangief appeals to me the most, since he lacks most of these inner outlines.

Peace and orange zest to you.

This answer is a bit daft, but for something so trite it's served me rather well...someone told me a long time ago that shadows tend more towards blue. In theory this means that the shadowy parts of a yellow thing are sort of green, and the shadow parts of a red thing are sort of purple, and who knows what the shadowy parts of a blue thing are? This may be completely off the mark, but nobody has ever told me explicity that it's wrong, either...so I have continued to employ it. (I believe that I also heard that shadows tend to be less saturated, which makes intuitive sense to me).

If that doesn't help you, I hope at least it doesn't harm you.

These *are* seriously nice. =) Obviously the pixel tech is a little loose, but the overall design is just spiffy. MoD pretty much covered any crits I might've found in the sword guy (selout). Well, not totally true -- the edge doesn't look smooth enough to be sharp (I'd guess inner aa would help here). Hrm...

oh yes -- the other thing is that handguard's a lot bigger than his hand. It makes it look like the sword is TOO big, instead of having a stylistically long blade. Either way works, just decide which you want ;)

On the rabbity guy (whom I love unconditionally, by the way) I have only two suggestions at this time:

1. The gripe of a person who pretends to know something about combat -- for a proper side kick, shouldn't the knee be outside the center line of his body when he chambers for the kick? Right now his knees are all crossed up, putting him regrettably off balance. I would not like such a fine rabbity guy to be knocked on his rear.

2. The impressive folks around here do a fancy thing called unifying t3h palette. Near as I can figure, it involves using some of the same colors throughout the piece. In your case, I guess that would mean using some of the pants color as shadow on the skin -- it sort of gives the impression that all the elements of the sprite exist together. When they have no colors in common, they look very separate...or so I understand. In any event I'd give it a shot and see if it looks nifty.

P.S. That fire is pretty.

P.P.S. What happens to his (HIS) right arm, when he kicks? It seems to disappear.

P.P.P.S I am not digging the pure black eyes on the sword guy. I do like how dapper he is, though. =P

General Discussion / Re: Off Topic. Pixelation need a tutorials section?

I always thought that posting work for CnC counted as bettering yourself through instruction =) Wouldn't a tutorial section amount to the same thing as the normal board, then, but with only beginners posting art there?

whoopsy -- I tried to paste a link to the page you get if you search for "unify palette" but it didn't work.

Therefore: use the forum search bar and look for "unify palette". <3

Pixel Art / 2-bit stomp (?)
« on: September 29, 2006, 04:05:50 am »
Hey folks -- for the first time in ages I have time to pixel something. It ain't that special but it makes me happy =P. C&C dearly desired -- now that I am renewing my interest in pixels, my goal is to actually gain some skill with each picture I make.

I stole the colors from the hi-color fad avatar BG, so perhaps this is a fad avatar in spirit ^_^. I tried adding a background, but everything I tried looked hackneyed. I may make another attempt tomorrow.

Anyhow --
