Pixel Art / [WIP] Old Man running/walking :)
« on: September 05, 2009, 12:29:55 pm »
Hello all,

Today, i did my first running/walking animation since aaages  :D .

Please tell me, what you think, that i can improve on this:

(Frames)

(Animation)

I, for myself, can see some errors, that can be improved, too. e. g. The Beard isn't swinging in the wind and it's hard to tell, that one leg isn't on the ground while the body is one pixel up in that special frame (dunno, how that frame is called..) .

Greetings,
Ingo

Is your Game Background supposed to be lighter? If not, you'll get all dark in dark, and that's, sadly, not very readable / good to differ in objects (is that, what it's called in english?) .

I like it.  ;D

Is it supposed to look like it comes from mediaeval times?  ??? Because, to me, it looks like that, and not like a "modern kid" O_o .

Hey :)

Soo, it's not a skyline or "city-line" on the evening or morning?

Sorry, if i get you wrong, but english is my second language  :-[ .

To add a more watery feel, you can add ripples and waves to the "city-line".

Greetings,
Ingo

hey :)

your "city" looks fine!

i'm sorry, but that's not the way, Dithering is used by most of the Pixel Artists :( .

Please, have a look at this:

It can help you, to understand, what dithering is and how to use it  ;D .

nice, for being your first try in pixelart :)

but please never use JPG as the file format to save your Pixelart :( - why? Well, because it destroys your Artwork! Use PNG or GIF instead, and all will be fine :) .

Hello and welcome to Pixelation / Way of the Pixel :) doxykins~

Hey, that's a good start :)

That your darker part of the palette is too narrow, is something, that i realized too.

Greetings,
.Ingo.

off-topic; MS paint seems inefficient (no layers, no dithering tool, no transparency, etc.)  but i don't want to use Photoshop as it simply has too much.  Does anyone have any suggestions in this regard?

thanks! -DLM

Why not try the free Version of GraphicsGale? Or GrafX2? Or ProMotion? Or an old DOS Program running in DOSbox, like "DeluxePaint", "GrafX2", "VGAPAINT", and so on.

Greetings,
.Ingo.

I do not know, what a bicycle kick is, but he looks not so, as if he is using much power for his kick. It looks, as if it is very easy for him to kick like that, like he is acting on a planet with low gravity or, even better, in zero gravity.

If you want a more realistic look, i guess, you have to show, that it needs some strength and power to kick that way.

I'm a newbie animator, so i can't show you any pictures or animation, sorry :( .

Just my 2 cent.

Ingo
