Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Creature - Sidescroller
« on: July 04, 2011, 04:44:29 am »
When a rabbit runs it's back legs go straight outwards then abruptly jut back forward. I did a small rabbit runcycle, here let me show you the non animated version. It's not perfect but I did look at some reference footage and images for it.

I'd start with the side view first if I were you. Here's a good reference image. Search for run cycle.

You are not drawing circles for the head, you have straight lines. Perhaps this image will help.

2D & 3D / Re: How to achieve seamless low res textures in Maya?

Pad in between the different colors. If they are connected they can bleed with texture filtering.

2D & 3D / Re: Massive Blender Tutorial!!!
« on: February 22, 2011, 02:58:08 am »
These tutorials actually got me back into doing 3d stuff. I've never used Blender before, but these tutorials explain how to get around pretty well. Blender's turning out to be a pretty cool program. I'm also working on a Macbook (no mouse, no numpad), but I've developed a pretty good workflow without those. The only downside is manually changing views through menus.
ctrl+alt+left arrow, or right arrow cycles the saved views. might be apple key on mac, not sure.

Pixel Art / Re: The yellow dragon [WIP]
« on: November 05, 2010, 10:56:39 pm »

I tried to do the flying animation, but it does not look very dragon-like. (don't look at the glitches at the body - I was concentrating on the wings, so far) Any hints?

I recently made a doodle of my soon to be created Avatar... (will recreate the animation)

Maybe it helps for your case
Elk, your wing's curves are better but the timing and spacing aren't better than Lazycow's. Notice how the down push is faster than the up drag. It's this timing that is why the dragon can fly.  :y:

One of the first mistakes when you begin pixel perfect art is using dithering. Don't use it as your main source of shading, use it sparingly. Post your progress.  ;D

Looks good but the timing is way off. It's too slow, you really should only see him load, pull back and then throwing the rock. You shouldn't see the inbetween of his anticipation and action.

Lovely quake wallpaper Arne. I still quake myself.
