Devlogs & Projects / Turning a Comic Book into Cartoon
« on: May 10, 2017, 06:59:12 pm »
Hi everyone. Sorry I have not participated in discussions as of late, I had to move and so much life happened.

I have a comic book on Amazon through CreateSpace, and I am looking to create a free distribution of the work in cartoon form via youtube, and possibly though yoyo as a standalone executable.

I have 8bit to 32bit style graphics, and a simplistic harp accompaniment OST that is a WIP.

I saw an 8bit cartoon the other day and I thought it would be fun to make one. I am using Gimp 2 for creating the graphics, Finale 2014 for the OST, and Game Maker Studio 1.4 Pro for the actual assembly of the cartoon.

I have since adjusted a few details for making the scenes work better, but I was curious if anyone had suggestions for improving this? Like how the story feels and if I do a good job in general.

Pixel Art / Hawk Animations
« on: November 28, 2016, 08:25:45 pm »
So I was hoping some kind folks would not mind helping me to improve my animation skills with pixel art.

I do all my animations first with a basic wireframe, that can be sometimes a skeleton. then I add mass, and layer on more details as I go using gimp.

I'm pretty happy with the flap animation for now, but I could easily improve it if someone knows otherwise :)

the one I am having the most difficulty with is the turning/banking animation for the template. Basically I just have a rotation, but I want it to feel more like a bird.

I thought the best way is to have the inside (inside of the turn) wing roll down, and the tail counter the turn by rolling the tail into the turn.

Look forward to any feedback.
