Before I go any further, how do you think this is turning out?

Should I start from the beginning at line art? I'm finding it really hard choosing a good color combination.
Anyone know an appropriate palette for this type of drawing?

Have I overdone the dithering? I think I'm starting to look like a lego man.

Hey Larwick.
Looks good. But I still think the face looks a bit strange. The eyes seem too close together and the chin is jutting at a strange (and sorry, masculine) angle.
The main thing that's throwing it off for is the height of the older girl. From torso up she doesn't seem too tall but her thighs are huge! If the her lower legs are the same size then she would come down much further than the little girl. Which would look weird considering she's so much higher than little girl as well.
Just looking at it now. Maybe the knees are hidden under the skirt. If that's the case then forget I mentioned it, but instead make the knees a bit more obvious.
I think you would benefit from drawing the entire bodies without the frame to get the proportions right and then frame it after.

Ok I had a go at AAing it. I probably didn't do it enough or in the right places.

Now since it's transparent the background I've been working it into is white, but if I were to put a different color background on it I would have to redo the AAing on the outside correct?

hahaha. The character is actually me. But yes, I am quite a character.
So yeah, I know about anti-aliasing and I'll have a go. I just remember hearing somewhere to not do any anti-aliasing on the outside of the lines. Is that correct or is that specific to sprites?

I've made a color scheme that is a bit more realistic and less eggplanty. I'm happier with it but there's still more to work on, if I only knew in which places.

The outline looks really jagged. Is this because the ratio is too small? Or is there a way to make it look better?

Thanks for the compliment.
Yeah that's where I'm stuck. I had no idea were to start in terms of pixel shading.
But with a bit of perseverance I made an attempt.

I feel like I've gone in the wrong direction. What do you think?

Hey, my first post. I've never really had an attempt at pixel art so this is my first try. It's pretty amazing seeing so many people here are are just so great at it.

I'm stuck I don't know what the hell to do from here. I don't even know if I've gotten it right from the start.
Here's the original drawing.
