Pixel Art / Blam Blam (Updated 09/26/08)
« on: September 24, 2008, 06:07:33 pm »
My eyes hurt when I look at it now so I guess it's time for some outside opinions. This is kind of the first thing I've done in a while, so if you'd be so kind, I could use some help scraping off the rust.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the joke's been made before, but still...

I'm partly happy with it, partly less so, but I've taken it as far as I can alone so crits will be highly appreciated.  :)

Pixel Art / Lick that kitty

After abandoning this whole thing for a while, I've come crawling back to pixels.

I can almost taste the rust in this one. Help me?

Pixel Art / Tremulant's big, lumpy dump
« on: August 25, 2007, 04:10:51 pm »
Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything to say the least, so I thought I'd best remedy that... for... some reason. Anyway, being that I'm still gripped firmly in the clutches of a rather extended creative slump, I thought I'd post all the (semi-) presentable stuff from my now very-populated "pixels" folder. There are a lot of images in the following post so if anyone's on dial up or whatever... be forewarned.

My most recent thing. I couldn't think of a way to finish it, which is kind of what prompted me to do a dump post:

Dinosaurs:

Demons:

Dragons:

Super heroes:

People:

Pokemon (unfinished and unentered from the PJ pokemon challenge. Trainer from pixelation's trainer challenge, also unposted):

Skullmen:

Some random stuff:

Mockups:

Another incomplete PJ challenge entry:

There's more to come, no doubt, as I still have about 30 or so megs of crap to sift through. I forget what all's in it, though, so chances are most of it is either truly, purely trash, or I've already posted it, in which case I won't repost it here. Anyway, feedback would be really nice, as always. Some of these, I probably won't touch again, but crits, comment, etc... all will be useful somehow, at some point, and some of these I'm more than willing to complete, so... hoorah!

Oh yeah, and... much of this was done at work, on computers with poorly calibrated monitors (which I'm not able to re-calibrate). If colours are washed out, poorly contrasted, or just plain ugly, let me know and I'll see if I can't fix them up when I'm at home.

Update: Last one in the 'random' section.

After several centuries of reliance upon his trusty bow, cupid finally decided it was time to modernize.

These things take time.

Anyway, new stuff. Obviously still very much a WIP, but I thought I'd get help from an early stage this time. Looking for crits on anatomy, pose, colours (so far), etc.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to add a few colours, particularly to the girl's shirt, which is maybe slightly flat looking at the moment in comparison to the rest of the pic. But I might not. Anyway, that's what your opinions are for. :P So, uh... let's hear it!

Pixel Art / The end of days [Update: finished]
« on: April 11, 2007, 12:21:01 pm »
This is the first bit of pixelling that I've done in quite some time that I consider good enough to bother posting. I've taken it about as far as I can on my own, I think, so I figure it's time to get some outside opinions. So... without further ado:

As ever, C&C is greatly appreciated. Tell me what needs to be done!

Update: I now consider this done. Stuff could probably still be done to it, but I'm getting tired of it, and it's honestly at a point where I'm happy with it. Thanks to everyone for the excellent critique. The finished piece can be seen in my gallery on Pixeljoint.

First pixels in a while. They still need work, but I think I've gone about as far as I can on my own. I think the palette needs an overhaul, but all crits/opinions/etc. would be great.

Pixel Art / Testudine Shinobi *Update, 12/19/06*
« on: December 18, 2006, 06:31:28 pm »
I think I'm going to call the Tinman finished (for the moment, at least). Thanks again, guys for all the help on it.
So, onto new business:

Honestly, kind of a joke piece, or... a time-killer, more accurately. That said, the amount of additional effort I put into this one might be... less than admirable? Heh seriously, though, crits would be seriously appreciated, if for no other reason than for future application. In all truth, though, I probably will be updating this. The whole concept of turtles that are also ninjas is pretty badass. :D

Things that concern me:
The AA on the bandanna is sloppy
Anatomy? (not sure, but it's always a problem of mine)
Just remembered I left out the belt: when I was working on it, I had a hard time adding it w/o making it appear flat... (I'll work on this, shouldn't be too hard)
The dithering? Looks a bit too... obvious... to me. Maybe add a buffer shade?

Other stuff.. but... anyway, this is just some of the stuff I'm looking for opinions on. Let me know how to do better!

Pixel Art / Merry thing *Update: 12/13/06, finished*
« on: December 08, 2006, 05:17:12 pm »

It's a merry wintry christmassy thing. Also, it's the first bit of pixel art I've done in... a while :P

Possible problems:
Colours blending together (the dark green and the purple, etc.?)
AA'd moon? (nothing else is aa'd, basically. Looks out of place?)

Crits on anything that comes to mind would be nice... I'd like to get it all polished up and what-not.

Edit: I think, unless anyone has anymore big crits, I'm gonna call it done. Thanks to all who replied. :)
