I guess I'm thinking more of a sprint then.  I had narrow vision on the "run" term, still many run animation appear more as a trot then.  Do these guys ever buckle down and really run?

I see this alot in running animations, but don't you generally run on your toes?  I rarely see run animations like that.

I'll post the drawing I made later tonight once I can get to my camera....but DavidCarney said I should add some personality to it....what would you mean by that?  Would you mean that I should add a personal touch to it...or more of a dynamic pose?
The pose is one of the main things, it's all about what you want to do with it.  I don't know much about dolls and stuff, but what I do know is every single one I see is in the same static pose, with the same style.  If realism is what you are striving for, you've reached it, but as an artist, you might think about changing the pose and giving the character distinct traits that define her.

Or it was drawn by hand (either with wacom on MSpaint and 1px size brush or traced from a hand drawn scan)
Which is a trace...

Well, it looks like every other doll base out there, honestly.  You should try to strive for better than that and add some personality to the piece.  Make it your own.

1) The action stops dead for a millisecond (when he catches the ledge, everything freezes or he gets stuck to it).
This might be because it is waiting for input from the gamer on whether to hang, drop or climb?  Even if this is so, an idle hanging animation might be necessary.

Pixel Art / Re: Building - BURN effect

Well, if it's graphics for a game, and time is of the essence, then whatever gets the job done should be fine. HOWEVER, in the world of true pixel art, the burn tool isn't exactly a tool widely accepted by users. In fact, tools like the burn tool and tools like it, where the program decides where to place each pixel, are practically forbidden and taboo. It's fine for high res digital art, but for pixel art, you might wanna' invest in more patience, rather than allowing the tools to do most of your work.

Agreed, they really don't look terrible at all and don't "ruin" it for me, but conceptually pixel art is about having complete control over every pixel.
To me it's all about deadlines and volume.
Do you have to make tons of these, or so you have short deadlines?  If so, to maintain a consistent style, I would actually support this.
If you have lots of time, and not too many to do, I'd suggest placing pixels using your super-advanced brain tool which knows what will look better, as opposed to a paint program's algorithms.

I'm not telling him to do it because it's traditional, I'm telling him to do it because it doesn't look right the way it is now. He asked what I meant by traditional(and asked if it'd look weird), so I answered that it wouldn't, because it has grew on people.
:-\ What basis do you have to say it's grown on people in general?  It kinda sounds like a personal preference to me.

I, for one, love the way you are doing the shadows on all the stuff, the rocks look top notch, and every is looking very (as Baccaman said) commercial.

The trees look a bit odd to me, because unlike anywhere else on the trees, there is a bar without any leaf shading on the purple side.  Add shading to that and it might flow better all the way around it.

The shadows on the flowers do seem a bit too large, and grabs the attention more than you want it.

Awesome job all around though!  Top notch stuff.

Okay he's like, 3 days old, you're planning this out waaayyyy too much. My dad was expecting me to be a jock growing up to be a football player on the Broncos team and man, did that change dramatically, I now draw, play tons of video games, hate jocks and hate all sports except for boxing. Point is: Your kid will probably not turn out the way you imagine him but whatever path he goes on you should support. Also for god's sake name him something decent, like you know, Alex or Ben, yes, those are generic names but who the hell names their kid Theo Vincent Storm(I know I'm being harsh, but if he had that name, he'd be screwed through out high school)?
wow... honestly that's messed up.  You sound like one of those bitter kids who let people pick on him while you were in school.  Do you think a name is gonna affect that at all?  I don't even think this applies, I would kill for a creative name like Theo.  Kinda weird having a 16 year old giving a 36 year old fathering advice...  How is he "planning this out" anyway?

For instance, I say "Halp", but it's a clear misspelling of "Help" on purpose.
and its totally funni?  I think that kind of lingo has its place, and thats not on a semi-serious board, the fact that the original poster would rather defend his 4chan rather than improve his pixeling.
