I'm far from being the master of anatomy myself but I did decide to play around with your piece just for fun. I can't really explain the method behind the result but if you zoom in prehaps you'll learn something as I did while playing with this piece.. Any comments on where I went wrong are welcome

Pixel Art / please criticize my technique

Here's something I cooked up in a pretty short time span as more of a test of what i'd be able to create by simply doodling and correcting any mistakes I saw fit. I guess it's two little sumos and one has an afro?.
I'd like some tips on shading and how I should structure my art. How do you usually begin? how do you go about shading?. See anything I could fix up?, thankyou.

Thankyou, i'll take a look into it, but i'd also like to hear what you guys use. I've heard many good things about multimedia fusion 2.

As an amateur pixel artist / game developer I'm looking for an ideal language to learn or prehaps a great software package. I'm unaware of the options available to me when it comes to being able to interact with my sprites. I've grown tired of just staring at what I've drawn/animated and I'd really like to make something out of them. Where should I begin?

Now although I'm no expert I thought I'd introduce a few ideas that may help you. I always find that my own hands act as a good enough reference when it comes to illustrating them so I simply picked up a pen and stared at how my hand held it and then drew it. For the facial placement, although I'm probably quite off I began by drawing two draft circles along with the eyebrows, nose and mouth until I had something that resembled a face and added a few small details on top of them.

I wasn't aiming specifically for a Raggedy Ann type look. It just sort of ended up looking very similar to either her or Pippi Longstocking. I suppose I'm looking into changing the hair colour in the future but red is working well for now. I appreciate your advice and decided to implement it which you can now see right next to the original. Feel free to pick it apart some more if need be.

Pixel Art / [WIP] I'd appreciate some general advice

Hello and thanks to any of you who'll take time out to school me on anything pixel related. I'll be honest with you and say I've only been lurking around these forums for a week or two but in that time I've read and witnessed great things from great people. I'd be an idiot to pass up the chance of getting mature c&c that'll guide me into reaching my full potential. So with that out of the way I'd like to introduce you to a small piece of my work.

fig 1. - a walking doll

I'm sure one or two lenient people would call this passable but i'd like to aim a little higher. There are several things I can see myself that i'm not completely happy with, mostly regarding the left arm movement and the general lack of detail on the limbs. I intend on continually tweaking the image and making improvements myself but I'd like anyone here to really tear it down and advise me on how to improve it, thanks in advance.
