I'm with Conceit on this one. No so much on the making the arms move with the legs like the previous edit, but more with the expirementation aspect. People that are nervous tend to be stiff and defensive. I think you can get away with moving the arms with the legs if they're just tilting slightly. The previous verson SORT OF had this, but I think the arm movement might have still been too drastic.

You might want to try decreasing the arm movement or even changing the stance so that he's reaching out slightly (but with a bend to show that he doesn't really want to actually touch anything).

I'd suggest walking around your house and acting out what it is you want him to convey. Don't go outside though. You'll scare the children.

Opposite arm, opposite foot. He can still be lurching, but it'd make the walk more "correct".

Sorry for the size. It's the best I could do.
The image is from Animals In Motion by Eadweard Muybridge. Pick up your copy today!

Sorry if my goofy image seemed out of place, but what I was really trying to say with it is that your current version doesn't look like the character you're trying to base it off of.  Sorry for seeming too misleading.

Want "actual" critique? The lines in the face don't stand out enough.  I'd suggest upping the contrast of the flesh and, as bengoshia suggested, lowering the color count. Don't worry about adding texture until the pose is fully realized--- and that's if you opt to add that level of detail at all (since the cartoon certainly doesn't).

He kind of looks like a character from the first episode of My Little Pony---

:'(

I wish I didn't know that.

That being said, he doesn't look terribly ape-like. If you're using the DBZ character as your reference, you might want to cover more of the forehead.

Regulus Awesome: I wasn't try to adhere to his current design as much as I was trying to show off a more believable facial structure. (The mullet being added on for shits.)

Right now, there are some glaring flaws that one could call "style choices", but that'd be a cop-out. First, I'd kill off the strange black lines that cause a hard-edge to appear in very, very odd places. The lighting on the ear needs to go. If you think about the structure of a head and where the light is hitting, there wouldn't be highlights on the ear, correct? Unless, for some odd reason, the ears are sticking out so far that they're able to catch some of that light.

Maybe this quick mockup (which is similar to the current, less-realistic version) will make more sense than the Billy Ray Cyrus look-a-like.

I went a little overboard with this edit, but I'm pretty sure there's an anatomy lesson in there somewhere.

Count me in.

I like "odd" food, dapper attire circa the 1800s, curly mustaches, and hairless cats.
