It's just that they all look related :)

Hm... you are right, they look like the "Haagen-brothers"...

I was busy for a long time, but I have to finish the faces now. Here's another try. (still WIP)
(thanks for the hint, r1k! That was the missing link)

update:

(finished?)

some hints for the animation:
- don't turn his head while running, instead try to animate his hair (e.g. let his single curl at the back of his head bounce up and down)
- don't turn his shoulders, i think the shoulders will not move significantly while running
- what about using different colors for the back-leg and the back-arm?
- shoes are too dark, I can barely see them
- arms seem to strike out a bit too much
- leg movement seems to be nice, though. (maybe a little twitch when the leg is at the very left)
- I like that bag!!  ;D

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] - Top down game, double pixel or not ...

Good work, I really like that style. The characters are cool, too. But do you want to torture me by only showing the spritesheet and not the animations? Next time, also post the animations, this is an order!  ;)

Yes, i couldn't resist...

- the 2nd one has severe problems in both directions
- most of the time, you only bounce the head while walking. Instead, I would try to move head and body. (let the feet do the bounce)
- king has different leg movement (walking down)
- my favorite one is the red-feather-knight (only while moving left) and the king.

More of them!!  :D

Hi, I have noticed two things in your animation:
1. The green body grows and shrinks while walking. Instead, it should bounce like the head.
2. The left leg is in front while the left arm is in front, too. (and vice versa) You should do it "crossed", like putting the right arm in front when the left leg is in front.
Here's an edit to show you the difference:

old / new

But it still looks a bit like the sprite is skating. I only know how to fix this in a 8-frame animation. So I added 2 additional frames and changed the leg positioning a bit to push the bouncing a bit more. (This is only a quick edit, arms and legs are a bit wacky, but you should see how this would work, I guess)

'hope you like it  ;D

Recently, I had time to continue working on the yellow dragon... But obviously, I still have problems drawing some wings. Suggestions are welcome.

I don't like that castlevania "running" animation somehow. What I am missing most, is the "bouncing" of the whole body. Right now, it looks like he is walking, not running. To make it more visible, I have increased your animation playback speed here.

While the additional color in the tubes and the sprites is a real improvement, it breaks the NES restrictions, doesn't it? (3 colors + background for a tile or 3 colors + transparency for a sprite)
