« on: November 28, 2016, 07:18:13 pm »

This is the first time i made a jumping animation, don't mind the eyes, they are grey because of transparency normally they are white. Normally he looks like this:

Here is the spritesheet if you want to edit anything:

So you really have to be more exact. With size i presume you mean resolution. this is purely preference and style. you can go from 16x16 sprites to full res 3d model or hand drawn. I wouldn't recommend going below 8x8, otherwise you get unreadable atari graphics.

with creating a character do you mean designing a character or drawing one? for either one it's best to just google search and you will learn the basics from some tutorials. then try making your character and come here for cc.

You could also distinguish the glove by giving it a different outline.

Looks amazing. I would say tho, if you didn't say he was a falconeer I wouldn't guess he was one, maybe make his glove more apparent.
Also, why is his belt buckle in the shape of a  reversed L, usually they have a cube shape, this isn't as much criticism as it is curiosity

You don't per se have to use lighter colours, but if you have low contrast, using multiple colours becomes a waste if you can't even see them. In the picture i removed the outline in the dark places, and it's not even noticable at 100%.

Look at what some lighter colours can do! It much easier to see the difference between different shades now.
I also feel like coloured outlines, or at least lighter outlines, could help this look better. Having inlines be the same colour as the outlines usually doesn't look very nice (for example the wooden boards)

well if it's an rpg and it's top down, your perspective for this sprite is already wrong, if he is seen from above, how come we cant see the top of his head. Maybe this will explain some more about perspectives http://cyangmou.deviantart.com/art/Pixel-Art-Tutorial-1-Game-Perspectives-308022207
