I would suggest googling for some ninja poses.
Your current pose looks like the character is either falling or lounging in a pool floaty or beanbag chair.

I actually love the aesthetic you have here. But I must admit I prefer the original version.

The lighting is a little confusing..
The ground is as bright as it would be in daylight, yet it's a night time scene.

Also i'm not too sure why half the screen is taken up by a cross section of the underground.
Maybe this could be for game play purposes? (zombies crawling up from the ground).
if it isn't though, I'd recommenced cutting it back, or at least drawing in some skeleton bones or buried jewels to make it interesting. A wall of dithered dirt is not interesting.

I think that looks a LOT better. I also like the hills.
however, you're going to do more with the ground your character is standing on, right?

I really like the colours, however I think there is some depth problems with that city in the "background". it looks like your character could jump and climb on a cluster of miniature houses.
perhaps try lowering the brightness/visibility of your background pieces to "push it to the back", so to speak.

He isnt walking, he's just sliding his feet on the ground.

use this:

with the above reference, I was able to make this: which looks to be in the same perspective as your character.

hope this helps and good luck on your game.

I guess I just don't understand why you're placing all these characters around the title.
I think the design of the title without all the characters is strong enough on its own.
does your game have a protagonist? or are all those characters playable characters?
If you did want to have a character in the title, make it the protagonist.
else, I'd remove all but the one at the very right, cutting into the design. I think his placement works well and makes the most sense (he looks like an ARCHER, not a tank dude or a knight/witch).
the others just seem out of place and tacked on.

IMO, definitely too busy. hard to even make out what the title is.

@Yokai90, I think it looks a LOT better with that second highlight, despite learning that less colours is more when it comes to pixel art..it looks less flat in your edit, I think.  :)

@Washk, Yeah, I guess I've always avoided eye burning saturation even when a little saturation is necessary. But I see now that my original scene definitely lacked some good contrast. Thanks :) I'll also check out that link.

funny, the very last thing I did was increase the saturation and brightness of the highlights on the tree.
But I agree, I think it looks better with the highlights toned back a bit. hurts the eyes less..
thanks (:
Although, if you look at the reference there are some crazy highlights. your edit makes it look sort of overcast?
This goes back to my issue with drawing not as it is in the ref, but as I think it should look.  :-\
