You mean like that? I actually don't want to introduce more lines, it's already really noisy and my aim is to reduce it.

I refined it a bit more and tried out 2 different shadings. I personally like 2 the most, 3 looks kind of flat and the hand in 1 looks too much like a square.

Thanks for the video. I gave it another shot. I think it looks a bit better, but it still gives me the feeling of unrest.

Pixel Art / Problem with drawing hands
« on: May 01, 2017, 05:15:00 am »
Currently, I try to improve my art style by drawing different hand poses using only limited colours(2 colours for outline, 2 for deep shadows, 2 for light shadows, 2 for the base and 2 for highlights). I can't seem to get the folded hand pose quite right, no matter how hard I try. The hand on the left looks stretched to me. If someone could point out the problem or give me directions, that would be totally great!

I tried my hands on a simplistic scarf too, but i kind of messed it up a bit.

hey, here's another edit.

I noticed you were using thirty-something colors for this sprite which is an issue considering how similar they are. For this edit I focused on reducing the color count and changed the scarf.

-reducing the colors made the sprite look very unsaturated so if I was using my own colors I would go back and fix that.

-assuming this isn't a sprite for a game, I made the scarf flow more making it more interesting and giving it a better silhouette in my opinion.

I really liked your edit and tried to do it justice. I made some very small additions to it.

Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Need help with detailing my Orc
« on: November 29, 2016, 07:25:19 am »
I'm a bit stuck with this picture. I can't get the clothes to work, especially the boots and the shoulders. They don't match well with the textures on the muscles, it seems.

My references:
For the general shape: http://eu.battle.net/wow/de/character/blackrock/Durrahan/simple
And Street Fighter 3 for the muscle work.

Progress so far:

shameless self bump

I added AA, more detail and changed the booster. I haven't touched the cockpit, might want to change the color.

Edit: I damaged the Arwing a bit, to give it some detail, still not satisfied with the metallic look tho.

I'm working on an Arwing right now and I've a major problems with it.
I want to add a metallic look to it. I can't quite get it to work.

Some shapes are still WIP and I haven't applied AA anywhere till now. Lighting is a bit out of place too, I guess. And don't get me started on the booster thingy.

I'm using these pictures as reference for the metallic look:

I increased the lighting a bit of the blaster. I hope it's more visible now. I struggled a bit with the perforations, what do you think?

I also added some lighting to the hands and applied some minor AA to the black parts of the helmet. I thought the torso was a bit thin, so a increased it a bit in width.

Edit:

I changed the posture a bit and added the end of the grip from the blaster.
