Pixel Art / Color Scheme/ Possible new icon help?
« on: January 16, 2017, 10:22:29 pm »
Hey guys. I haven't been here in quite a bit and thats mostly because of school.
I haven't done pixel art in a bit, but i've been practicing my art like crazy, as always.
And I wanted to make a new icon to hopefully show improvement?
I have two prototypes here-

The first ones colors feel not, as vibrant too me..

The 2nd one, I tried to fix that problem of it not being too vibrant, however maybe a bit too strong?
I'd greatly appreciate the feedback ^^

Been super busy with school and all..
so I had some time to post some pictures and such-

trying to practice lips right now as I want to be able to draw them with those wrinkles that lips have.

sketches also of designs for characters. (Mystery Skulls of course.)

Oh yeah! I've also been reading Nicolades The natural way to draw! I really need to catch back up on my studies from that book :)
I do have some sketches from some of the exercises you guys have done-

really cool im not the only one studying this book as well!

I increased the height to make it a bit wider Vertigo. And changed the saturation a little for the yellow stars.
Any better? .o.

Actually have had some time to work on this!
Problem is I am a bit stumped to what exactly I want to incorporate upon this.
I had originally wanted a pan, but now im also leaning to make this a bit more surreal.
I'm quite stumped does anyone have any suggestions?

Okay so update thus far...
(Also I hope no one was going to respond to this like, as soon, as I post this and if so then im deeply sorry.))
I tried the block-in method I think its called?
and in my opinion  it helps improve how I exactly I want the pan since its at such a angle  and doing it just from a sketch and lineart made it really difficult for me.

Now the problem with this however is im not too keen on it and im not really sure how to refine this?
Like for the block in method how do you exactly take the needed steps to refine it? What should I do to refine it?
(The pan is supposed to be copper but im having some trouble on that too btw..)

@ 0xDB
I took your advice on a frying pan and completely redid the art for it and everything, im going to try and add fire to it too possibly to make the concept more interesting, but for right now I have this-

@Mysterymeat I tried to also be more smooth? I think by that you meant not to make it jagged.Which I tried my best.
I'm not sure, you think if I do the coloring it would look less...jagged?
