Hmm I think I agree that the background is more contrasted than the main sprite. It should be the other way around.

I think as was pointed out, she is still in uncanny valley. It's a shame because you have put so much time and energy into rendering the face. But I do think the face form needs correcting. One tip which helped me a lot when I was learning traditional art was to think of the lips as just part of the face - mould and shape them as if they are clay with the cheeks - then finally just add a slight bit of colour

Hmm I think the sillhouhette is alright, but the shading and form need some work. For example, the arm is awkwardly infront of the left leg, and the lighting on the crotch area looks undefined. I'm having difficulty determining where the light is coming from as it's inconsistent around the figure.

Other than that, the legs are too long and a bit bulky for the thin figure.

Cool. Only thing I can see right now is she (it's a she right?) has quite large jolting steps but his body doesn't move much. Will have another look tomorrow.

I think it's quite boring and lumpy/ugly, and the palette doesn't harmonize well. The house on the left is my favourite. You should think of some more cool ideas to play with and really sell this game, as there isn't really anything here special or unique or particularly interesting.

Here are some random artworks which have inspired me. Pay attention to the palettes and composition of them, as well as the design features which make them interesting. Trying to shoot for a particular mood is one way to think about it - to keep focus, and keep things unified.

Hmm I think your rendering is going quite well, but your problem is not with the palette, it's with design. For example the two green beard shadow men are virtually identical, one is just looking 5 degrees to the right of the other.

I'd look at some more references and brainstorm some design ideas and push the ideas on these.

Thanks guys this is helpful. I see what you mean by the legs curving around/inwards now. I will definitely keep that in mind when I animate her (at this level, one pixel change can almost throw the whole pose off as I'm sure you discovered). I need to her to be skinny for the story and her age (18), and most definitely asian build though.

I tried some more edits and I think she is getting pretty close. I got a little more limb curvature by working the shading. Also don't forget she is wearing high heels!
