Pixel Art / Re: Shading A Bear

Hi when you upload the image to imgur, there's an option to get a BBcode for forums  :P

about the fur, I can't really help much. But for the shading, right now the whole area that is brighter looks kinda flat. What is the light source by the way?

Pixel Art / Staff fighter pose
« on: November 23, 2016, 07:19:06 pm »
Hi everyone, I've been away from the forum for a while because of work. Today I found some time, and also something that I need some help with   :P

I'm starting to work on a character that is a female fighter with a staff. The whole environment she is going to be settled in is based on oriental culture. I'm working on the first pose by now, and I'm a little worried about the anatomy. Since I'm aiming her for a game, I'm not too worried about the head being a little bigger than real proportions. I'm more specifically worried about limbs and torso size and pose

I'm tooking this picture as direct reference https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/dd/8e/1b/dd8e1b5349a640faf7c8a47e05267897.jpg
I imagine her phisical like this other girl https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/9f/cc/51/9fcc518bd25e64f1f18ecb50480c640c.jpg

Obs: I didn't put the references directly on the post because of the size of the images

Hi, First of all I'd like to say that the concept is not bad at all ^^

Secondly, one mistake that I've comitted when asking for feedback here was posting the pieces on a non 1:1 scale. The forum has a tool for zooming so it's better to use the original size (this helps when people try to edit your drawing and point their opinions) or at least the size it was intended to see.

Something that really helped me when I was beginning was when people told to work more with contrast. Try some hue-shifting on the color ramps aswell, might help too.

I know I shouldn't worry that much about anatomy of some monsters. I don't know why, but I like to make this creature more believable. But I have to admit that I like to go crazy sometimes :P

The prolongated neck really looks great, I noticed that the shading was a little strange on the arm, so I've fixed them both.

I've changed a bunch of other things like teeth and mouth.

Also I've made a variation with larger teeth, which I've found to be... very disturbing

Thank you guys

analyzed the anatomy for a while and realized that it made no sense, at all. there was no way that the arm could connect with the rest of the body.

fixed the light source, there was some very weird inconsistences
did some subtle changes on the pallete, but I still think that the colors are not definitive yet

Pixel Art / [WIP] Nightmare Creature

Hi, It's me again  :P

I am working on a personal concept of a "nightmarish" creature. Recently I found out that something that really disturbs me is human-ish features on things. Creatures that are meant to be evil or scary often are depicted with sharp teeth, claws, red eyes, etc. But for me, when monsters have human-like teeth, hands or eyes it's much worse (I remember seeing something like that on Extra Credits's video about uncanny valley).

Well, the idea is a blind beast with this big mouth full of round-squared teeth (pretty much like human teeth). The colors are not definitive and he isn't that polished yet. I've thinked of many more interesting poses, but I decided to try an animated idle stance (something like like him breathing and sniffin' the air) after I finish the design so I've made him on a very simple pose

Behold!...

My main concerns right now are the shading and mouth's position, angle and teeth. The anatomy is kinda messed up too.
