Pixel Art / [CC] Portrait
« on: August 04, 2017, 04:06:36 pm »
Hi! It's me again. Hope everyone is having a great week.

This time I'm here seeking the help of the pixel portrait gods! (not really, whoever feels that has a good point to make, I'll be more than happy to read :P)

As some may have noticed (I hope anyone notices), the portrayed person is Dave Bayley from Glass animals.

I think he is already recognizable enough, but I really want to portray him and get his expression right, which is the main problem in my opinion, I wish to give a subtle emphasis on sadness.

Here are some pics I used for ref:

Thanks in advance! Any critics are apreciated. Feel free to destroy it

Pixel Art / Help with the background.
« on: December 05, 2016, 01:29:36 am »
Hi again, everyone.

I'm working on a project for a mobile game. I've done the first mockups of how the game is supposed to be like.

In this stage you're supposed to be the raft the whole time, while creatures come and try to knock you off the raft.

I'm aware that the items shown on the bar on the bottom aren't matching with the ones that the character is using (they are from an older mockup)

While I'm wanting help with the background any comment will be well received ^_^

So, the farthest layer (trees, mountains and sky) are just a placeholder to know what should be shown on the image, but the "real" trees (the ones that I'm working on for the game) are the closest ones

Obs: Oh and I'm using an "incremented" version of the db32 palette because it's the default on aseprite, but I'd like to change that for the final product

Thanks in advance  :P

Pixel Art / Staff fighter pose
« on: November 23, 2016, 07:19:06 pm »
Hi everyone, I've been away from the forum for a while because of work. Today I found some time, and also something that I need some help with   :P

I'm starting to work on a character that is a female fighter with a staff. The whole environment she is going to be settled in is based on oriental culture. I'm working on the first pose by now, and I'm a little worried about the anatomy. Since I'm aiming her for a game, I'm not too worried about the head being a little bigger than real proportions. I'm more specifically worried about limbs and torso size and pose

I'm tooking this picture as direct reference https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/dd/8e/1b/dd8e1b5349a640faf7c8a47e05267897.jpg
I imagine her phisical like this other girl https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/9f/cc/51/9fcc518bd25e64f1f18ecb50480c640c.jpg

Obs: I didn't put the references directly on the post because of the size of the images

Pixel Art / [WIP] Nightmare Creature
« on: July 16, 2016, 10:44:42 pm »
Hi, It's me again  :P

I am working on a personal concept of a "nightmarish" creature. Recently I found out that something that really disturbs me is human-ish features on things. Creatures that are meant to be evil or scary often are depicted with sharp teeth, claws, red eyes, etc. But for me, when monsters have human-like teeth, hands or eyes it's much worse (I remember seeing something like that on Extra Credits's video about uncanny valley).

Well, the idea is a blind beast with this big mouth full of round-squared teeth (pretty much like human teeth). The colors are not definitive and he isn't that polished yet. I've thinked of many more interesting poses, but I decided to try an animated idle stance (something like like him breathing and sniffin' the air) after I finish the design so I've made him on a very simple pose

Behold!...

My main concerns right now are the shading and mouth's position, angle and teeth. The anatomy is kinda messed up too.

Pixel Art / [WIP] The young warlock studies
« on: June 25, 2016, 02:01:12 am »
Hi I'm working on piece for personal training and I could really use some feedback :D

Here it goes:

the setting is a library where the young horned boy is doing some reading, on the center of the ceiling is a flame-coloured crystal that is the source of light

things I still plan to do:
-fill the last bookshelves (and the bottom row of the second)
-remove the symmetry from the books on the bookshelves
-add shading on the hair
-add shading no the shelves
-add a background after the bookshelves
*maybe i'll do some subtle animation

The most frustrating thing by now is that the books doesn't look like books to me hehe

Portfolios / [PORTFOLIO] Pixel artist for hire
« on: February 15, 2016, 08:24:50 pm »

Hi, My name is Leona Clarc. I've been working as a pixel artist since 2013~14 and have already been through a bunch of very different projects which allowed me experiment lots of techniques and different styles. I love what I do, and that's part of why I always kept experimenting different styles whenever I got the chance to.

My personal preferences when drawing. I like using fewer colors and smaller sizes, making the most out of a limited amount of stuff is something I like to put my work on. I really like to draw fantasy and Particle animations, but I often pendullum between RPG fantasy and futuristic/cyber stuff and I get super pumped up when I got to work on those things, besides that, I'm confident with animation but I can also handle some environment, other themes (given a bit more time to study). Not really a fan of more "realistic" styles or making stuff without being able to give my own input.

Also don't forget to follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/clarcosa  :y:

Well, enough talking about me. Here are some examples of my work
