EDIT: FILLED

Currently working on a 2D top-down game similar to Hyper Light Drifter and Valheim. I am looking for an artist to have a long-term business relationship with to produce assets as we need them. Right now our top priority is fleshing out a suitable art style and then creating basic assets to get our demo functioning. The art style does not necessarily have to be pixel art, and I welcome any new styles. I place a big emphasis on animation, as that is what brings characters to life, so you must be experienced with this. This role is very flexible and accommodating, and will pay well.

Pixel Art / Re: [C+C] Simple Trump Sprite, Looking For Critique (WIP)

I think the colors are better, but the shadow on the brow looks... off. It doesn't look like a shadow to me.
Thanks for the help though :D

Here we are:

I think if the hairline wasn't perfectly horizontal, it would look a little better. Also, isn't the Donald's hair more orange than yellow?

How about this? I found it a little difficult to break up the hairline.

Hey guys,
I'm currently working on a short project, and am trying to make a Trump sprite. I think it looks alright, except for the hair. Perhaps the tie and white shirt could also use some work. I picked the black border as a stylistic choice.
Please critique this sprite in any way you can :D

I'm not familiar with Risk of Rain, but you should still at least have one cohesive pair of pants. :) Unless the shirt he is wearing is so long it is covering the crotch, we should see most of the pants in the crotch region.  ;D

You really think the one-pixel wide arms will do the trick? It's hard to convey enough information with just one pixel. Then again, if you can tell a story with just one pixel that wouldn't be told if that same pixel wasn't there, that is pixel artist mastery as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers!

I'll fix the pants, but I feel that the arms would look too thick if they were more than one pixel wide.

Hey guys,
So I'm currently working on a hunting/wilderness-survival side-scroller similar to Risk of Rain. I've made a character that I intend to use as a template for all human sprites. I have made pixel art before but have not progressed much due to the fact that I spend most of my time programming. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could take the time to critique my character! I specifically need help with the t-shirt/pants as I am not sure how to shade them.

As someone who's style constantly compared to Risk of Rain, there isn't an inherent need to shade.  It's a pretty small scale, and it's more important to make things as readable as possible.  Personally, I would recommend making the body thinner and make the  legs, arms, and head thicker.  That way, you can get more detail to be readable, and help differentiate characters.

If you really want shading, you'd want to turn the guy so that one side is clearly more in the foreground, and then the part in the back should be darker.

How about this?

Hey guys,
I'm currently a single dev working on a sort of hunting game with aspects of wilderness survival. The game is a side-scroller with combat that will be similar to Starbound and Risk of Rain. I'm currently working on the project in Unity, and have been using some art from the internet to represent my player. I'm currently working on making the game pixel-perfect, so I'd like to get some better assets in order to construct a better scene.

I just need a quick player sprite, with a basic walk animation, along with a single tile that I can use to construct a scene. : Here's a thread showing the game.

I'd appreciate it if any of you pixel artists could help out :D

Unpaid Work / Re: [Paid] Pixel artist and/or animator needed
« on: June 04, 2016, 05:43:31 am »
Ok so ill it clear up for you about what I said about the requirements:

*my mic just broke so a twitter account is needed for communication
You should however still be able to communicate though Skype. Twitter is a odd way to communicate even emailing is better as even one has a email account what I am saying is you are limiting your artist to people who use twitter its not a big thing but its a limitation. So that just a helpful tip

*the art files need to be able to import in to gamemaker (I cant find a better 2D software, plus its what I learned the most)
If you are willing to take any file then that is a problem the only file your artist should be sending you is a png. If they are to send a jpeg you will get unwanted pixels and a white back ground.

You not having a portfolio means two things you are lazy and have not uploaded it so people can look at your work or you dont have the experience to create high quality work yet. Either way those are not very good traits(I understand files can get corrupted however why not create a portfolio before then or you should of started creating the code so you can have a engine to show the artist)

Just a small thing but you also displayed your gif like this http://pixelation.org/Smileys/snake/laugh.gif
instead of this

Overall you might say im very picky how ever if you want a good artist they will be as picky as I was in fact i would be worry if there where not.

One more thing if you state you age or years of programming experience then you are much more likely to get a good artist.

Hope this helps you understand my criticism.

You're completely correct. OP needs to clear this up if he expects an artist to work for theoretical revenue share. If OP is not even capable of posting his portfolio, what does that say about his work ethic? Nobody wants to work with someone who may be lazy, especially when payments are dependent on hard work and determination.
