Pixel Art / Overlooking[wip]
« on: January 01, 2009, 07:27:31 am »
Been too busy irl to keep up with previous topic. I'm a lot more free now, so I should be able to work on it more.

Help on the mountains would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to get them right yet.

Pixel Art / Landscape Setting [WIP]
« on: December 08, 2008, 02:42:16 am »
Still in it's early stages.

There will be a tree on the little cliff there. Next to the mountains will be a forest along with a small town (or not). The river leads into the sea, and it'll be an average day, so no sunsets or anything.

Originally in grayscale but the pixel day palette appealed to me and it looks alright here.

Criticism, modifications, suggestions, and palette changes are welcome.  ;D

Pixel Art / Mountain Range
« on: January 08, 2008, 01:26:27 am »
Here I am again. Well I haven't pixeled lately but I've decided to start a new one to finish for a site competition. It's going to be a guy sort of sitting/leaning on the edge of the cliff looking onto the sunset behind the mountains.

Current.

Mountains inspired by fool somewhat.  :)

Please help me out with suggestions and critique.  :)

Pixel Art / Some Rubik's Cube Animation
« on: November 13, 2007, 08:39:56 pm »
Well I just though of this last night, and got the bases finished. I plan on adding 2 more frames for each swivel. And eventually when I have enough things made, I'll attempt a real solve animated. And the great part is I can solve one in real life, which helps incredibly.

Current Colors: 9
Frames: 16

So help critique.

General Discussion / Dithering/Blending
« on: September 07, 2007, 10:10:56 pm »
Well I'm a pixeler, I can grasp some of the basics of the color selection and pallete choices, but not I would like some help with things such as blending and dithering.

Dithering, there are many styles, the one I'm most comfortable with is the common Checkerboard style. I know also that if on MS paint, if you use a black and white picture, there are all those different versions of dithering that work well. The one I'm interested in learning right now is the kind where you kind of insert "bubbles", "blobs" and "splats" to blend it in. I really like the effect.

As for blending. I'm also trying to learn to blend contrasting colors well so they look good even though you can see the colors. I would prefer not dithering but I want to know how you can shape your shades into forms that look nice when with contrastnig colors.

Thank you for you time and help me out if you can. :)
