I'm far from the best when it comes to realism, but I tried to toss a face on.


now it's not the best, but I"m sure you can get ideas from it.

some other flaws I noticed was his right arm seems misproportioned, the legs have already been mentioned, and something doesn't seem right about the fold in his shirt.

the thing that bothers me the most is the cuffs at the bottom of the pants. they both look too similar, and too perfectly rounded compared to the roughness of the pants. I'd say they look more like ankle cuffs than pants =p The folds on the pants are defenitely looking better though, and I really like the idea =]

I see what you mean about the hoodie. if anyone feels like editing it to show me a better way, feel free ;p. As for the head, the eyes are shadowed out, as for the hand, it's kidn of hard to tell, but the shirt has a loop [one side only, I kinda fell down the stairs x_X] and the fingers are abit mashed together, kind of gradually going from out, to in. I fail at explain :p looking at it again, I also need to soften the outline on the shoes. that dark blue doesn't work compared to the lightness of the pants.

Well, I think it's done. I'm not too satisfied with the pants, though. It's using many more colors than it should; a massive 15. I'll admit I did poorly with the color management.[almost hard to believe I used more colors on one sprite today than I used for a whole scene yesterday] If it seems small compared to the other fights, it's because I'm a short person ;D. Portrait will be in the works soon.

I didn't notice arc the lad mentioned here, The first time I played that game the graphics stunned me, the animation is just beatiful.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any screenshots of it that don't horribly ruin the quality =\ [damn you, JPG]

I'd say helm's edit gives off my opinion of the sprite. more color = better = hardly true. the less colors you use the more creative you have to be; and it usually shows and makes something look that much more impressive.

As for the original sprite, it's not bad, although the dark outlines of the clothing, and the very light outlines of the doll clash pretty bad. I already mentioned the color count, the hair is quite nice. The outlines on the parts of the boots seem out of place; seeing as hwo there is no outline between clothing parts on any other part of the body. That and one boot looks abit bigger thant he other. but that could just be me. The orangey-brownish shade could use a brighter highlight tone. The AA is quite nice. And thats about all I have to say ^_^ hope at least some of it was meaningful.

well, I decided to go "back to my roots" [hacking NES games was actually my first real dabbling in pixel art that wasn't pointless]

ah. I see what you meant about the foot. and no, I don't mind at all if it helps me get better ^_^.

I was actually planning on re-doing that foot to go along better with the rest of the body in the first place ^_^ at a different angle; though. think 45º
