Portfolios / [Portfolio] Vierbit
« on: April 16, 2013, 02:48:13 pm »

Hello there,

My name is Fabian J. and I am working as a pixel artist for a while now. Below you can find a small selection of artwork from various projects I worked on.
I can comfortable work with any perspective, be it sideview, topdown or isometric. I am flexible when it comes to subject matter, be it a fantasy, SciFi or something completely different. I am able to create background artwork as well as creating animations.

If you think I should work for you and are also willing to pay me for my work, contact me.
Either send a message or send a mail to "vierbit(at)"

Great stuff guys. It certainly captured the look and feel of the alien universe quit well. Love the crazy hue shifting in some parts. :y:
Would love to see some animations, especially for the bigger creatures.

General Discussion / Re: Kill the Unpaid Jobs Board

No need to shut this section down, itīs not like it takes away resources from the [PAID]-board.
As already said, no replys in the topic itself isnīt necessary an indicator for lack of interest. I would say quit a few artist work for free on smaller projects all the time, but it is understandable that artist will work only on projects that are interesting to them.
Meaning it is the job of the topic starter to create interest for their game and itīs also important to think in realistic dimensions here, It is highly unlikely a good graphic artist, who can usually find paid jobs, will work in their free time on some mmorpg or something along these lines.

2D & 3D / Knight

Trying to get a bit more serious into 3D stuff.

Made some mistakes during unwrapping, so in some parts the texture distorts a bit too much.
Somehow forgot I donīt need a texture for every part(like the inside parts of the helmet or the shoulder armor) leading to empty spaces
in the uv map.

In the end I just wanted to get it finished, the animation could need some tweaking though.
All work done in blender and photoshop.

So here is the scrolling background Stylus was talking about.

The BG is sliced up into four parts, each moving at a different speed to give the illusion of parallax scrolling. Using the same palette
as the tileset and sprites for consistency sake.

I also updated the title screen a bit.

Thanks for the opinions. But to be honest Iīm more unsure than before .
Well, probably better I take the risk and just buy one and see how it is.

I decided to buy a new graphic tablet. But before doing that, I want to know if there is a difference
between a no name and a wacom product. Currently have a aiptek A5 size btw.
In the last years I made quit a few attempts to get into digital painting, but it always ends in frustration as I find it very awkward and it doesnīt feel natural at all. Which leads me to two possibilities.
Iīm not a person who goes well with tablets or my current setup is a POS.
So yeah, if some people here have experience with different kinds of tablets I want to know if an expensive wacom is worth the money.

Yes this game is in development and will be released at the sundown demoparty later this yeah,
well that is the plan at least ;).
And yeah, it is a sequel to the first rox. But I wasnīt involved with that.

I also feared that a bit that the sprites could get lost in there, but after seeing a very basic build of the game I can say that isnīt
the case.

No new monitor, but apparently I got the contrast right this time :P.

Hm really? Actually we will probably only use the 2nd one, the first takes too much room on the titlescreen.

Currently working on some other graphics for this game, so I plan to update this topic as soon as possible.

Pixel Art / Re: [TREE] Elk needs help!

Why not just add a few variations of trees?

Maybe it helps seeing a forest more like a "mass" of leafs with treetrunks and not a placement of individual trees.
Otherwise it looks quit nice and I personally donīt think the x pattern is too annoying.
