Experimenting with some chairs. Thoughts? The arm rests were hard to get right. I'm still not really happy with any of them.

Here's the reference.

Started working on the floor texture! How does it look? I kind of like the square shading but the colors feel boring. Wood floor on a cruise ship has a uniform look but I know I can push the values somehow. Still working on the table too.

2D & 3D / [WIP] [CC] Low Poly Pixel Art Sci-Fi Vehicles
« on: April 16, 2020, 03:14:22 am »
Hey everyone! I'd really appreciate comments and feedback on this project. So I was working on a 3D pixel street and thought it looked really empty. A cop car suited my needs, so I quickly made this thing. Unfortunately, I only noticed the "proportions" of the car were off after I finished. It looks like it's a tight squeeze for people in the front and the back.

Opinions? Is there a future where such a skinny, short SUV would exist? Should I continue this or scrap it? There's no lighting in the scene. All the lighting/shading is done in texture. I tried moving some points around to make the vehicle wider but it's too "complete". I don't hate it but I'm going to try again. Either another cop car or a sci-fi dump truck!

Too much dithering/texture on the table, maybe? I think the umbrella looks good now. Any comments? I also started on a new prop, a trash can! The sliver of blue-green is walls of the ship reflected. That's the idea, anyway.

Really nice edit Mathias! The changes add a lot!

Xenon02, your cat looks weird the way it's shaded. I agree that the second floor looks a bit "short" possibly.

Try to give it shading more like the bunny on the right!

Thanks for the like! Here's an update. I cleaned up the shading on the umbrella and changed the contrast. Right now, I'm not happy with the base underneath the table. It still needs some work.

Hey all!

Here are some WIP props for a horror-themed cruise ship environment. I just started and will upload work bit by bit. I'd appreciate any and all critique. The project is inspired by the Resident Evil games, specifically RE: Gaiden. So "semi-realistic" is the desired pixel style. I feel I'm slowly getting that "realistic/textured" look with the props. The table and umbrellas are close to done, in my opinion.

I'm still tweaking the chairs but I like the side view a lot. The front view is proving to be difficult and can't even wrap my head around a back view.

Here's how they look in a mockup scene - the cruise ship deck. I'm adding transparent shadows underneath the props, so they look more grounded and real. I'm only doing this on some props and only where it makes sense. The plan is to experiment with lighting in a game engine. Thoughts? All comments, critiques and suggestions welcomed! Thanks!

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP]isometric "zombie" scene, for a personal project

Looks great! I feel the old 3/4 character looks a bit better than the new one. The stance seems more dynamic. The angle of the face is "correct" but with the old character, the face had potential for more detailed expressions.

For the zombie, maybe give him a more colorful outfit if readability is a problem. I gave him a yellow shirt and I thought it looked good. Other zombie models could have a variety of hair colors. Blonde, blue, red, white stick out to me.

Good start. I'll throw out my thoughts.

- I think the timing needs work. The way she raises the gun looks a bit slow
- Maybe she should raise her arms higher?
- I'd recommend you check out the 12 principles of animations to discover the optimal ways to add "zazz" to this piece
- Check out actually reference video of women shooting handguns

Anyway, made some small edits that (IMO) improve the timing. One with swipe/one without. It's not perfect but I tried to give the animations some follow through with raising the arms up quickly.

Good comments from pistachio I think. Topology is something to keep in mind when 3D modeling. If you want to eventually animate this (or have someone else animate it), a proper modeling is very important. Post some wire frame pics and more angles on the bird! Good luck!
