Unpaid Work / Programmer looking for artist
« on: August 22, 2017, 11:52:37 pm »
Who am I:
So who am I and what am I looking for. First, my name is frozenwisp / Benjamin McNeill I am both a paid programmer and paid a pixel artist/animator so I know what I am doing. My portfolios are below with review from happy clients.

I will be developing this in GMS 2/ gamemaker 2 engine

Programming:

Art/animation:
https://pixelation.org/index.php?topic=19466.0

Contact information:
Email: frozenwispstudios@gmail.com
Discord: frozenwisp#2410
Skype: frozenwispstudios

What we are creating:
We are creating a RPG/hack and slash with local multiplayer, Xbox controller support. The player will be able to go from self-created level to level killing enemies and bosses. I am a programmer that will set up the code so that if you wish you can create your own levels without any problems. The musician will have their own layer for music, the artist will have their own layer for sprites and I will have my own layer for the code. This is something I have learnt from the hyper light drifter developers and has worked well when I have created games such as Bounty (Link:https://www.facebook.com/bountynaliastale/).

My Goal:
My personal main goal is to create a strong engine so even if the artist/musician leave I can still sell/share the code as an asset pack. Which I sure the game maker community wouldn't mind having. Plus I want to have a solid foundation to work off of when clients want help in this area.

Requirements:
Pixel art slot:
3 years+ experience
Team experience/group projects
Animations/character/environment
Age 16+
Clear english communication skills
Portfolio<< A must

Musician slot:
3 years+ experience
Team experience/group projects
Sound effects/Background music
Age 16+
Clear English communication skills
Portfolio<< A must

The Artist job:
Your job as the artist it to create the character/environment art with a clean and simple easy to continue art style I could help create one but you will need to animate both the characters with multiple states such as (idle, movement, attack(melee/ranged), death, more). You will need to also create environmental objects like (trees, rocks, grass, logs, more). GUI will be needed to things like (hp/mana bars and more.)

The Musician Job:
Your job will be to create sound effects for (attacks, deaths, walking(grass, dirt, stone, so on), rolling, more). You will also need to be able to create at least two background soundtracks for levels and one the main menu as a theme.

Watch a lot of time lapses/references and start small like 16x16 or 8x8 then make your way up this way you will learn to create more with less and understand shading on a pixel level as well as many other different techniques.
But as you understand the most important thing is time.

What art style are you looking for? Can you get a picture of it/ go online and find some thing you like.

In my opinion a 4 year would like vector art more than pixel so this might not be the best place to look for a artist how ever look though the pixelation portfolios http://pixelation.org/index.php?board=8.0
You might fine a artist who is willing to work for you.

Also what engine are you making this on just out of curiosity.
One more thing add a email address for people to contact you that would help.
