how big do you want the game window? 640x480 is good for html, producing for mobile devices will open up a can of worms with resolution, or you can do bigger if it's a downloadable game. 32x32 is usually pretty good if you're not doing mobile.
With the character question, it's first best to ask yourself what type of feeling do you want for the game. What is the genre? What is the story? Cooking Mama would be a terrible character in a game like Destiny, and Commander Shepard would look really bad in a game like Skyrim. It's best to flesh more of your game out theme wise before you worry about the character too much.

My sprites are 32 x 32 for my mobile game, and I have pixel perfect resolutions on near every resolution screen out there.

I know the part about the arrow and axe. The readability on the Viking is understandable. It's supposed to be a really short Viking (like a dwarf) running. His legs are a blur because they're moving so fast, haha. I'll work on that.

Hey all! I'm looking to turn this graphic into a T-Shirt design and would love some critique to make it better!

I realize it's not quite pure pixel art due to it's size, but I figured there is still a lot that could probably be improved upon.

If you want to the characters doing something interesting, then have them interact with each other

Make them do something.
And logo interaction is fine but put some action or reason to it.

Try giving the viewer something fun to look at, instead of them just standing there.

Haha, I like that! I'm just scared of doing something too much like that and giving a wrong impression of the game. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

I would love it if you would try out the alpha and tear it up too. Most of the alpha testers I have so far don't have much to say, haha.

yeah, i'd just remove the characters from the logo altogether.
i don't mean to be harsh but it doesn't look good and impedes readability.

No, I like the honesty. Without honest, critical feedback there is no improvement. I have very thick skin.

I guess I just don't understand why you're placing all these characters around the title.
I think the design of the title without all the characters is strong enough on its own.
does your game have a protagonist? or are all those characters playable characters?
If you did want to have a character in the title, make it the protagonist.
else, I'd remove all but the one at the very right, cutting into the design. I think his placement works well and makes the most sense (he looks like an ARCHER, not a tank dude or a knight/witch).
the others just seem out of place and tacked on.

It's an infinite runner and they're all playable characters. I get what you're saying though. This banner is being designed to go at the top of the play store when people are looking at the app. Like in this picture.

I guess I was trying to fit on as much info as I could. No sense in putting all that in if it kills the image.
