Here's a couple of changes. Moved the arm somewhere which I think is slightly more realistic anatomically, though the shape isn't quite as exciting.

I really don't like this position. I think perhaps what I actually need to do is move the head back so the shoulder can stay twitsed toward the back?

@cels

The weapon definitely looks too scythe-like at the moment. I'm hoping it'll look like a glaive eventually.

@paste

Your skeleton seems completely different to what I'm intending (but it's difficult to tell without seeing a ribcage). This is what I'm intending for the chest and left arm. She's meant to be twisting away. The lump on the right of her chest I think was going to be some kind of fabric over the breast area. Should probably delete and ignore that until if got the pose right.

I'm hoping to give the impression that she was caught off-guard, such that she is having to twist away from the attack, rather than a clean directly away from it. I'd also like her hand to be moving out of the way of the attack. Left arm seem a bit too high, still. Pretty sure with that elbow position her arm would be snapped off, so I guess I'll try that bit again. :P

Anatomy, gestures and composition are some of my weak points, so I'm using this piece to practice. No rendering yet. At the moment I'd mainly like feedback on the aforementioned qualities.

The warriors left leg seems wrong at the moment. I was intending for her to be standing more over the sparks, but now I think I need to move the light around the leg a bit. Other than that, I haven't really figured out what to do with the chest area. I put some leather straps there, but the whole area seems like it could do with reshaping before I start on any details.

Thanks!

I'm not sure it's going to be too useful to figure out shading with something this small. You're better off with something at least 40x40, I'd say. There will be more opportunity to go wrong, but also more opportunity to learn.

I think you could make the background much more curvy. If you google "underwater", you'll see a lot of curves in the light and dark patches where the water obscures and refracts the light. Some curviness might help to make the scene feel more underwater.

a take-it-or-leave it edit...

The crow definitely needed some attention and you got it spot on in your edit. I will possibly up the vibrancy just a tad when it's almost done. I've plenty to think about for the next update, now. Thanks! :D

Beautiful scene. :D

I feel like you can still lower the contrast in the background (and even add a little detail), as well as having a touch more contrast in the foreground. You might also be able to get a little more depth by putting the mountains on two layers. There were a few colors that didn't work for me as they were too close to adjacent colors, such as just below the trees. I think some AA between some of the more contrasting adjacent colors also helps a bit.

The new tree looks fantastic. I tried some slightly different colors on the trunk.

Absolutely stunning. This is way above my skill level, but two things did occur to me.

Thanks, cels! I plan to add a little more space around the border and a simple background of some kind. Good spot with the lantern; I'll fix it in the next edit. :)

Currently working on this. Would love any pointers regarding color, technique and composition. Thanks!

I tired mixing up Kingdom Hearts and Zelda. The feet are slightly bigger for the Kingdom Hearts style. Starting to notice some spots that can be tidied up a little, and I think the left foot needs some work. I'm going to have a play with the colors a little later, such as turning the saturation down a little. I ended up making the material hang in pretty sharp folds, though it might be better if it were more loose. I'm not so good at that, though. Keen to hear thoughts on other bits that can be improved. Thanks :)
