Try not making the arms so stiff. Have the forearms kinda bounce around.

is this your first animation? great job at analyzing a good animation and making it your own.Far from it. This just the most recent 'big' animation I've done lately.
if you want to make it stronger, have a little more buildup at the beggining BEFORE he makes the kick.Looking back, she (I apologize if it isn't clear, but it's a female) starts out mid kick. More frames before hand will probably fix that.
http://www.zweifuss.ca/colorswap.php?pcolorstring=RemyPalette.bin&pcolornum=0&pname=remy/remy-hk.gif this is what you referenced right?Correct.
part of the problem is Remy is hitting sideways while you're almost going straight up, your kick is more like a ChunLi kick than a Remy kick. This is because I only used Remy as a loose skeleton. I didn't want to make a carbon copy of it, so it isn't fully mapped, partially to make it my own. More start up frames would be good, though.
also, if you could tilt his torso towards us a bit it would help sell the kick, stretching your leg that high is very hardAs in, towards the outside of the screen? I see where that's coming from.
also, why does he duck when he's done?Again, differentiating it from Remy. I could have easily stopped it a few frames earlier and had her go to an idle stance. I was of the animation as more of a demonstration than a real attack.
Watch out, the legs switch sides:
