That's a great interpretation Panda. I love the fresh colors, makes the piece really breathe. My only crit would be her chin. I feel that it should be just a slight bit higher, as in the original. But then again, this is an interpretation :)

okay, i'll try to fix those things. and we had to make a face. can't get to imaginative with a human head.

Yes you can. There are multiple ways of approaching every given theme in art. You could go with the realistic look, looking for the right skin shades and whatnot, or you could take an artsy aproach and experiment with colors or you could go oldschool and try simplifying. Endless possibilities and a lot of room for imagination. And with 10 colors for a single face, you can achieve a lot.

10 colors? For this piece you could have easily gone with as little as 6 colors.

There are shades of color that are either unnoticeable or could have been done with an already existing shade. There's also some inconsistensy in your ligthing. The shade on the hat is rather dark, whereas it's very light on the face, it's an odd contrast if you assume that both the face and hat have the same lightsource.

I also find the color sceme to be rather dull. You had 10 colors to use, so why not utilize them with a bit more imagination?

I'm also finding the shading on the neck kinda wierd.

Pixel Art / Re: Amaterasu

I'm going to echo what robotriot said.

Amaterasus back could either do with a bit of selout, or you could just make it smoother by fixing the jaggy line. In addition, the flary fluff on his front leg is also a bit messy, you might want to consider simplifying it a bit in order for it to stand out more. The farther front leg could also be pushed back slightly. I also doubt that all those light blues shades you used are necessary since they're pretty unnoticeable.

But I like the pose and the feeling of ferosity that the sprite portrays :) I took the liberty of doing a version based on what you've done.

Also, this base will most likely be used in a game based on my comics, so I want to use the exact same colors and shading that I do in the comics.

Fuck iiiit.. even if I know I never could have won.

Dude, you're underestimating yourself. I hope Adam makes an exception on your part, because your sprites are awesome :) Functional, original and good capture of the essence of popey. You'd have good chances of winning to my mind.
