Pixel Art / Re: [Help][Wip] Shading/Dithering ... (GUY)

Well, right off the bat your pillow shading. Simply, your adding highlights because you want them there, not because they are there. First, pick a light source, and shade away from that. You can also add an ambient light, so when it's actually at it's darkest it gets a bit lighter (usually blue). Also a note on pillow shading, it's sort of like a bulls-eye, you start with a color, then add a light color in that, and so on, and so on. Don't do this, as it is guaranteed to make your work look bad. If I really didn't explain it that good, check out some tutorials or something, I think Helm and Pep made one with some like cake eating ghost/robot. That one is great, if you can find it.

Also, a note on the legs, you can say it's mirrored, but that doesn't make it okay, if the tops not going to be mirrored, then the bottom should look different as well. As far as anatomy goes, he looks like he's got a bit of scoliosis.

I hope I really helped, and don't get discouraged. Practice, and work hard at it, and bet you could be as good as Helm and Moonson2D (etc...).

I had a crazy idea for a challenge... couldn't find the ideas thread though so here it is...

I was playing tetris, and I had left the far left side empty, so if I got a | piece, I could get the 4-clears in a row. And then it appeared... the face of our lord god, Arthur Fonzarelli. Kidding... but it looked somewhat like a generic smiley face. I was wondering if anybody would try a tetris like color area restraint. Basically, your pixel image would have to be made up pixels form like tetris blocks (remember, 4 blocks a piece) and each tetris piece being a color itself. Now, if you want to get super-challenged, you could make each similar piece a similar color as well. I'd pay to see something like that (as long as it wasn't too small, and unchallenging).

Any takers?

It's wonderful, probably why no one has said anything, but the grass lacks texture, and as I recall, runescape had elevation changes. I'd really like to see a new GUI to... the one they have is a bit dreary.  ;)

It's nice... but the house and the grass/bush don't "match." Also, your house is to brand-newey and generic. Look at some other rpg's (secret of mana, LoZ) and see ideas on how to give the house some style.

Hmmm... maybe I will add a background... think I should turn it into a mockup or something?

Just practice, I know it's not very good.

Have at it.
