Pixel Art / Re: Fishing boat or something like this

Oh man how I missed that? Thank you both for your replies and I'm sorry for not answering before. My life is being very busy lately and I'm having zero time to pixel. Manupix, be sure that I'll research more. I'm not very familiar with boats indeed, I'll work on it and try to dig its 'personality' as well.

Ymedron, I got impressed, thank you very much for the effort to help. It's nice to see how the light effectively works on it instead only my deduction. It was very clarifying. I have no updates right now, soon I bring something.

You're quite right, thank you! The rounded hull make it more modern also.

But I'm having problems to make the front symmetrical (even more now). I tried some times but never seemed to be right. It's the best I could reach ): Any tips on this?

Pixel Art / About my RPG game graphics
« on: February 24, 2014, 03:37:54 am »
Actually I was calling it done, but I'm always open to improve my pixel arts, so, if anyone want to express thoughts about it or edit it in anyway or play ping pong with it, it's yours. ...unless you want to use it in your game. Cause in this case, it's mine. MINE. TOTALLY MINE U LISTENIN' TO ME? :D

ps.: I'm just being comical, so in case you think I'm unserious about my willing of improvement, I'm not at all. :)

Update mar/23
Guys, I'm kinda needing some advice here. First of all, are these elements matching for a RPG game? It's weird, I'm finding that the perspective is not matching, specially relative to the character and the tree. My attempt was doing 3/4 top-view (or RPG view), but right now some graphics are looking pretty platform-ish to me. I mean, isn't it supposed to look more like this?

->

It's a little frustrating, 'cause I worked real hard in both of them and now I'm considering to start over (at least the character isn't even close to be complete, due the diagonals/running~jumping~general movements/hair movement/clothes/etc). I've created a lot of frames to make the movement real smooth though. And I know, I exaggerated a lot. But now I don't even know what to delete from here, hahah. :o So I need suggestions and help in any kind.

Moreover, everything here is WIP. This is an example of a RPG-view character that I find consistent. I also figured that is real hard to find 8 directions references from this perspective, even in animated movies, games and web. Maybe a 3D game would do it, but I'm out of ideas about it right now.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, I made some fixes based on what you guys said. I know I still have a lot to do, but I'll get there.

It's a good idea indeed. I don't actually know if I'll use the borders anyway, they look inconsistent for me.

Pixel Art / Fishing boat or something like this

I'm seeking for anything that can improve this. I tried to do a glass window on that hole in the wall, but I miserably failed. Any tips?

(It's kinda like a boat for riding, not exactly for fishing)

Sorry for my disappearance. This piece is under slow-motion construction.

I think I finished the wooden stairs. I removed the statue (I'll redo it later) and added a recognizable carpet, I guess.

Thank you a lot for the tips, astraldata. :D

oh, quick note.  Shadows do not multiply if there is only one light source.  So the shadow of the window running over the sofa should all share the same value, instead of being banded like they are now.

This is actually pretty well represented in the previous edits that Stava and Nameless Force made.
True, alright then. ::)

But there's something I still don't get.

The second one looks better to me, but isn't supposed to exist a shadow up there like in the 1st image?

Oh, I completely forgot this column shadow, Nameless Force. Thank you for the explanation and the edit. ^_^

Stava, that's an awesome edit. :D I made some adjustments based on your thoughts, thank you. Also I changed the intensity of the light source and removed the previous rub bands, I'll try to do something different on it.

Tapsu, I pretend to make some texture for the rub/floor/stairs. (: Nevertheless if it continue to not read very well then I apply vertical bands or a pattern.

YellowLime, you're right about the walls. I tried a darker color there and I think it's better. It probably will have a natural glimmer coming from the door from the bottom, but the big windows are the main light source anyways.

I fixed some things, started to work on the curtains and sketched some angled shadows on the stair steps. I think the upper steps wouldn't have angled shadows, do they? Speaking of the sofa and statue shadow extent, I'll try to do something about it. Thank you. :D
