Hello everyone :D

I'm looking for some C&C for this piece:

To me it looks pretty sketchy and I'd still consider it a WIP, although the client was well satisfied with it as it is. The size specifics were big so it was all I managed to create with the client's budget. I know there's plenty of room for improvement and I'd love to put more work into this piece to improve my skills and make it look finished, so I'm proud of putting this at my portfolio pages. But I'm kinda stuck and everytime I open the image it feels like I've reached my utmost. How could I make this better? Please feel free to sketch over it if it proves necessary. Thank you!

Thanks, pistachio! The UI and cockpit...are renders. No painting. I directly save images from 3DSMax to Unity. I fiured out how to do index painting in max, and I love the poop outta it. Here's a glimpse at a straight from MAX 3D render of the main menu:

I'd love to hear how you did that rendering on 3DSMax.

So, I started drawing this randomly but now I'm willing to push it into a full fledged gorgeous look, not this tomato/cucumber salad that it turned out to be. :crazy:

You have a point, eishiya. I agree.

I guess it doesn't spoil too much on the checking if I move to 2 or 3 (below), and it also looks much more appealing to my eyes.

I think the main purpose is having a comparative net to make it easier to measure things with selection. I can't say exactly where right now, but I recall finding it helpful.

Sometimes I like it better to use transparency grids than a solid color for background when making sprites, but it tires my eyes if I look at it for too long.

These are the grid colors on Photoshop and Aseprite.

Is there any consensus on what are the best colors for background, without mixing up the foreground? I think I remember an image from Cyangmou pointing out better experiences with low contrast colors on these grids (unlike Photoshop standards).

p.s.: my mother language is portuguese and I'd never heard "blabbering" before, it's nice learning new words :D
