« on: March 30, 2017, 05:21:17 am »
Hey, I'm a college student studying computer science and computer graphics (second year), and am currently (as of late December 2017) looking for some freelance work! Below I have included some of my past work.

Past freelance work

background assets for a sidescroller game - 2018

parallax background for a game by Michael van Diest (https://twitter.com/diest64) - 2017

NES-spec background tiles for Mega Cat Studio's "Legendary Arena" - 2017

2D parallax background for Mad Capacity Studios - 2016

Personal work

These two are from a Ludum Dare game I worked on with a friend, @nicolaigd

If you'd like to get in touch with me, please either shoot me a DM on twitter (@ebogely) or respond to this thread :) Looking forward to hearing from you!

I've been trying to make a lively/interesting walkcycle for this duck -

And I'd like to make it smoother without adding extra AA colors.

Pixel Art / Tiny Hands
« on: September 26, 2015, 03:50:39 pm »
I'm trying to make a 6-color (including background) 48x48 Wario sprite to match one I made for pixel dailies yesterday. However, I can't figure out any way to draw the hands on Wario; it just seems impossible to fit in the right shapes on such a tiny area. Here's where I'm at -

Pixel Art / rendering rocks
« on: April 06, 2015, 03:31:13 pm »
I'm working on a parallax background, and have the last (static) image almost complete. However, to me it seems that the mountain is sort of leaning to the side, about to fall, and I don't know how to fix this without making the whole thing symmetrical. The idea and design are inspired by Johan Aronsson.

Pixel Art / [nsfw] female anatomy study
« on: March 07, 2015, 11:42:37 pm »
I decided to practice some figure drawing (very much inspired by 32's recent work :) )

Here's what I've got so far, though I think the head is too big and something bothers me about the chest and legs too :

2D & 3D / First time in Blender
« on: July 27, 2014, 02:27:49 pm »
As the title implies, it's my first time working in 3D, and I was wondering how to make textures for this simple model -

I've got no idea where to start, so any advice at all is helpful. Thanks  :)

edit - gottem.

still looks like crap though, so again, any tips are great.

Pixel Art / NES Cave mockup
« on: July 13, 2014, 05:23:36 pm »
Decided to have another go at NES things, and so I started a cave mockup. I think I'm getting the hang of platform tiles, but I still need to add more things to make the environment interesting, and that's what I need help with. I'm not sure what else to add besides variations of the rocks, although I want to have a kind of transition between the black inside of the cave and a blue sky (same palette as the waterfall). Any help with this would be great :)

Tileset thus far -

If what I wrote about the cave-sky transition is hard to understand, what I had in mind was something along the lines of the darker bushes in Indigo's mockup - http://www.danfessler.com/portfolio/pixelart/skid_mock4.png

Pixel Art / Sonic NES remake
« on: June 01, 2014, 03:08:48 am »
Title explains my goals for this; posting here to know how close my current tiles are to following true NES restrictions. The 4 bg palettes are included.

Pixel Art / Running Corgi Animation
« on: December 24, 2013, 10:43:36 pm »
I think I have most of this animation down as far as motion/form goes, but I would like to get more feedback from others before I start cleaning it up so that I don't waste time on perfecting mistakes.

Aside from the horrible lineart and jumpiness of the white stripes around his neck, are there any other things that should be changed?

For some reason, this 5-frame animation seems to look a lot better... or maybe it's just me. I only removed the frame where the dog is at its highest "peak."

Pixel Art / Need help on highlight placement
« on: November 14, 2013, 12:43:34 am »
This is a very rough sketch, but before I proceed, I want to block out the highlights for the piece. Problem is, I have no idea where to begin. Any suggestions?
