General Discussion / A Bastards Tale
« on: April 03, 2015, 07:04:38 am »
Hi all,

Almost done with the game. Only some SFX left and then it is time for release.

Many here contributed a lot and I contracted wolfenoctis to do some of the bigger artwork for cut-scenes, animations and clouds (I hate clouds). (he comes highly recommended)

I will keep this thread updated when I finish trailers and such (promotion is a pain). I will also release a free demo when the game is released and just made a twitter account https://twitter.com/A_Bastards_tale.

Here is some pictures of the finished game. Comments are very appreciated.

(wolfenoctis made the sky and sun)

Also this might be fun for someone. I spent a shit-load of time making a big snake enemy.  However, I gave up in the end because making the animations took too long time and he ended up not being so fun to fight:

and here is how it looks in the game:

Thankful for any help

(Also thanks for all the comments on my "tree in the wind" thread. I had to take a break from that one but will reply in a week or so)

Hi All,

Since a lot of the complaints that I got on the house was that surroundings was needed to be able to C&C I am working on a mock-up of the level.

In the meantime, here is a cow that will be in the background. the size will be 2x and I hope it is readable.

Pixel Art / Just another tree.
« on: July 22, 2014, 09:32:44 am »
Okay so it is my time to try out the pixel tree.

I looked a lot at Secret of Mana trees and ended up with this:

I looked at a lot of previous threads about trees here. My biggest question is how to make the process of drawing the leafs quicker it seems to take forever..

Also colors is a big issue I first used the secret of Mana colors just to get a feel for it but I have hard time understanding how to pick colours for a tree.

I also have problems with readability. I do not want a tree with very clear leaves but mine seems a bit too hard to read.

Hi all,

I try to do an impact animation when a sword strikes a sword or a sword strikes armour.

This is what I got now, It does the job but does not really pop out. I should also add that the animation goes a bit quicker in the game.

any advice much appreciated.

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#197 - Golden Knight - Shading, Animation
« on: July 04, 2014, 02:59:59 pm »
Hi all,

I am trying to make a golden knight. But i cannot seem to figure out the correct colouring to make the gold truly shine.

I am not finished with the shadowing of the piece since I thought that first need to figure out the colours..

If anybody has an idea I would be very happy.

Thanks in advance.

Pixel Art / Walking Knight
« on: May 16, 2014, 07:53:23 am »
I tried to spice up the walking animation for a player in my game. I know that it is exaggerated but I thought it would give it some depth.

Any criticism is appreciated.

Job offers / [Closed]looking for Pixel Artist for enemy spriter/animator
« on: January 27, 2014, 07:44:32 am »
Hi,
I am working on a game that I might try to release if it becomes good enough.

So far I have made all the art myself (see below for some examples) but would like some assistance with improving some of the enemies and also making new ones.
The games is a 2D Hack and Slash were the player's attacks and blocks depend on what the enemy is doing. It is inspired by, for instance, Punch Out!!. The main focus is on making interesting enemies.

Every enemy needs quite a lot of animation.
1 walk cycle (6 frames),
3 attack animations (from above, from left, from right) (around 6 frames each)
3 hit animations (2-3 frames)
1-3 death animations (3-4 frames)

As this is more of a hobby project my budget is very limited. Therefore, please let me know how much you would like to get paid per character.

below are some examples of already completed enemies.
