Pixel Art / Re: Space Coelacanth (WIP) Help Appreciated!

Okay, this may seem anti-productive, but I drastically changed the composition and scrapped a good chunk of the piece. I think this will really help in the long run. I'm still using the same color palette, but I want to think of a better background because random dithered shapes just weren't doing it for me. The rocks are also a little boring, but I can't think of anything else that floats around in space. Anyway, here's what I got right now.

Edit:
@Wallie988 A nebula would look cool, but I really have no idea how to go about something like that. I'm not good with those types of effects.
Hmm.. galaxies, solar syatems, black holes, what about commets?

The background was sort of an afterthought, and I think that's part of the problem with this. I really had no idea what to put back there.
I like the background - makes the fish stand out. Maybe you could add a bit of color - make a nebula?

Eyes don't look round enough, they're a bit jaggy

There's a bothersome line separating the main body from the tentacles. It shows the body is a circle and makes it look worse.

The third tentacle from the right is too short and is a bit too fat.

The bubbles of the hat shouldn't be cut off from the borderline if the bubbles are inside.

There are some extra black pixels on some tentacles.
O.o can you kind of tell me where the extra black pixels are? Nevermind, they should be gone now - and most things should be fixed except for the tentacle.

I really hope I didn't make the same mistake again, but if this is a pixel, it's my very first one! Critique and advice would be very helpful! >^.^<
V1:
V2: (removed the extra black pixels, fixed the bubbles, took out the line, fixed the eyes)
V3: (fixed the strange coloration and got rid of transparency

Pixel Art / Shading Help

Hello, as you probably notice, I'm a beginner at shading and would like to ask for a bit of advice. :3 Right now, I have 2 versions of the same made-up critter - both which seem a bit "off". Can someone help me make them better? >^.^<

This is the one that I think is pillow shaded - which is a pity because I can't figure out how to make it look as nice without pillow shading:

This is the strangely shaded one :L :
