Wow, awesome edit TeenIce. It beats my 15 minute edit so hard it isn't even funny.  ;D
I hope ebutterfly will post an update soon.

Cleaning up the line art is usually a waste of time. It's easier to do that later during the Anti-aliasing process. Right now I think the biggest problem with this pictures are the colours. They are pretty boring and they aren't contrasted enough. Here's a quick 'n dirty edit:

Here's what I did:
*changed the colours
*reduced the colour count
*experimented with some line weight to give it a more cartoony style
*some cartoony shading
*some other stuff

I've sold my soul to the devil.

Is that so? I thought you sold your soul to Cosmigo. ;D
They must make a fortune out of your "let MSPaint burn in hell" campaign (don't get me wrong I hate MSPaint nearly as much as you do).

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] monkey island piece

First of all I would like to say that I love your works, you're one of my favorite artists at pixeljoint. Since I am a huge fan of Monkey Island (and all the other Lucasart adventure games) this peace is even more interesting for me (copy or not). I think you have captured most parts of the original piece really well but there are some small things to improve. Here's a crappy edit for ya:

I tweaked the expression on guybrush's face to make him look more surprised.

And for those who haven't seen the original image, here it is: http://wiki.fz.se/images/c/c8/Secret-of-monkey-island_box_front_1600x2011.jpg

Yeah, I know about pixipedia but I think it disappeared when Pixelation came back. I got a 404 error when I clicked your link.

Why don't we make a wikibook? Everyone would be able to participate. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Main_Page

if beast wins, could people please 'aquire' it for study purposes and just stroll around in the first forest? It's important to understand the art, to see how it functions in-game. A lot that seems 'broken' as far as pixel-art goes actually goes to very good use. There's wonderful parallax and music and stuff! The atmosphere can't be beat! Do yourselves a favour :)

Yep , you have to see it to understand why it became so popular when it was released. The parallax is awesome (maybe not by todays standards though). For those who doesn't have an Amiga and are to lazy to use an emulator you can get some movies of it running here: http://recordedamigagames.ath.cx/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=2

I would like to see Cruise for a Corpse http://hol.abime.net/3134/screenshot be critiqued. For those who haven't heard about it, it's an adventure game from the french guys that made Flashback and Another World. Shadow of the beast would be nice too.

EDIT: There are programs for the PSP that can take screenshots from any game. So it wouldn't be hard to get pixel-perfect screens from Valkyrie Profile.

Pixel Art / Re: New to Pixeling

First of all: Welcome to the forum! I consider myself a beginner too but I think I can answer your questions anyway.

1. Yes, you need to host your images on a hosting site before you can post them in the forum. I use Imageshack http://www.imageshack.us/ myself but some prefer Photobucket.

2. Read a good tutorial (check out st0vens site: http://www.spriteart.com) Then begin to study some of your favourite images/sprites. Then pixel something on your own. Then study some more. Then pixel some more....

3. I don't think it matters what you do as long as you start with something small. That will help you to develop you pixeling techniques.

4. I've never used this program, so I don't know if it's good or not but I suggest you download Cosmigo Pro Motion. It may take some time to get use to all the keyboard shortcuts but ones you've learn them it will be a wonderful tool to work with.
