Will do, thank you very much.

Latest version. Still got to play around with the rock.

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Thoughts on Resolution
« on: November 23, 2013, 06:33:22 pm »
110% for the character, or as big as you can, with how huge these resolutions are coming. We don't want the character getting lost in everything going around him.

Bigger character means more focus and prominence, and less space for distractions around your screen for your eyes to get lost into. Well.. I'd say it just feels cozier somehow. And the pixels look more crisp and beautiful if zoomed.

Something about a smaller resolution size with character at 110% just clicks right after testing right away, compared to the other. I could elaborate more, but to go deep into golden ratio calculations or other successful references from other games may be too much for me tonight.

Btw, this is freaking huge.

Yeah, what happens is, this Pixelation account here is actually older than the PJ one. I don't think they allow name changes, and making a new e-mail just to get a new account? Eh, nah.

And yes, of course. Forgive me for skipping the most important detail that is character-to-background relations. I don't even know how I managed to miss it. Here's a sample.

Then we have this one.

Thanks for the edits Wolfe. Im already playing with it. As well as considering if I should change the perspective of the door to go with that sample crystal block I drew there for reference. EDIT: Not going with that block- Ignore. Too much work.
Current perspective block.

Your edit makes it seem like it's nighttime, or dark. Gives off quite a nice charm. -Nice rock btw.

I'll be adding shine to the water, but I figure the best way to do it is to have it done on a separate, animated tile you can put over it.

Here's the piece with the feedback taken, and a slightly different palette.

Variations are coming.

Did you see any quality change anyways, Wolfe? I think what actually happens is that tinypic.com renames the file extension, but the file remains PNG crisp.
In Linux, the image viewer won't open them unless I rename the .jpg to .png, for example.

Commercial Critique / Re: Commercial Critique Challenge - Pokemon Red/Blue
« on: November 22, 2013, 02:46:19 am »
Not bad, but I think it kinda takes away the charm of pokemon, to see your fighting 'mon absent. Sexy, nevertheless, but it reminds me of the Mother/Earthbound game style.

And im actually itching to see pokeglitch's hack. I would play it just for the delicious graphical changes, but if it's a good mod, that's an added bonus.  :D

Long time, Pixelation.  :)

Look at this.

To quote my PJ post, they probably need some critique overall anyways, but what kind of shadow style would suit this most? Help.

What of the palette, as well? Wouldn't a cooler color ramp suit them better?

The grass, is it not too messy?

Either way, as a Wip, I'll be updating this regularly. Critique would be amazing. I'll probably be trying experimental shading styles, but if you've a good reference to suggest or a good source of inspiration, by all means you're invited here to voice it.  ;)

I'll be working on this style for months to come, so there's lots coming. I'll try my best to shine and polish them as much as I can, until they're worthy of being included in the 32x32 pixelly heavenly realms of legend.

Added a tree for reference

Wow, it's a good thing I noticed this thread.

I used to play around with GBA rom sprite editors around 2 or 3 years ago, and made plenty of sprites for them.
Great to have a place to post them, or they'll keep rotting in my folders!

Enjoy.

2D & 3D / Re: Official OT-Creativity Thread 2

Hey all.

First post, but, I've actually been here before with another account I don't even remember the name from. Still, this place is still as amazing as I remember it; the amounts of quality art here as well as the pixels is lovely. I mean, just look at the stuff on this thread. Can't even begin to describe it. You guys rock.  :y:

(The pixel art section seems a little on the decline, quality wise, but it may just be me..)

Feels good to be here.

Let me not forget this wip, too

Im improvising on it, background coming, but im not sure what yet
All advice is welcome as always.
