Common mistake: when walking or running (humanoid locomotion in general  ::)) the arms do the opposite thing from the legs. When the left leg is in front, the left arm goes to the back. (remember, this is to balance the weight of the body on both sides)

Your second submission looks better than the first, and not only because of size restrictions.
The shape of the shade doesn't reflect the texture of the surface it's being cast in. You should take take of the borders of the shadow and think of how each grass blade is affected individually. And the shadow should have as many colors as the grass that is outside of it (The grass inside the shadow should be just darker grass, not a single flat color (unless its a heavy contrast situation, like mid-day sun or strong lightning)).

I don't see any arms (Maybe in the first few frames) Are those just the dress' sleeves? Or maybe it's foreshortening (the arms are pointed directly at the viewer)? As you see, I'm having a hard time making sense of the upper part of the body

Finally, I find that the feet are just fine, except maybe the right one probably shouldn't be tilted so far back in a natural situation.

Hope I helped  :)

I see you use shading on the necks (and foreheads), but not on the hair. You should either shade the hair, or remove all shading.

The line that divides the hair and the face is too dark in my opinion. It's justified for the one between the head and the neck (because it's a dark area), and the outline, but not for the hair-forehead line.

The eyes sort of look like they're pointing outwards, either because the outward upper eyelines are square instead of round, or because the light that makes their eyes glow seems to come from the center of their faces.
To fix this, make the shiny upper part completely horizontal. Or, as that screws up the eye outline, only do one pixel (the middle one). The important things is that it doesn't look as if the light comes from their forehead.

Also, using exactly the same eyes in each and every portrait is sort of lazy (sorry if that sounds harsh)

It's obvious you take inspirations from anime, but the colors in the mouth lines feel too clashing to me. It sort of looks as if their mouths have been sewn in :-X You don't have to abandon the technique, but you should make the color differences not so abrupt.

Jul has no shoulders (are they behind her hair? If so, you should convey it better, using either lines or shading)

Neither Gia nor Abigail have eyebrows. I don't know them, so I don't know how accurate that is.  :P

Hope I was of help.  ;)

It would be helpful to know what style you're going for here.

The tree looks very cartoonish, as if made of clay or plastic. I can tell you that the bright stuff at the pointy ends should be a couple of pixels above their current position.
The trunk of the tree looks as if a flashlight has been pointed to it: Leave the the darkest shade for the upper part, and the middle shade for the rest of the tree. I'd hesitate to use the brightest shade. Ask yourself: Is the sunlight reaching the trunk directly?
Also, you should modify the base of the tree to match the topdown view of RPG Maker VX.

The brick wall doesn't have a clear light source. Assuming it's outdoors sunlight, make the upper part of the bricks lighter ...but not too much: the pattern will repeat on every single brick, and a wide range of shades wouldn't look good. You should also make the small dots on the bricks (the texture) brighter, so they don't conflict too much with the general view of the bricks.

In the Shrubling, you should avoid using black on the eye outlines and mouth. Maybe use a very dark green instead, just like in the outline of the body. As you might know, it's a rule of thumb to usually avoid pure black, because it rarely manifests itself in nature (at least, in daylight. Things like black hair are actually a very dark shade of color, not black.)

Also, maybe the eyes should be a more saturated color, to stand out more (maybe it's the black eye outlines, that make them less prevalent)

Firstly, in the "original pose", the cable lines are inconsistent between the two frames. This might have been on purpose, but it looks sloppy.

Secondly, and I guess this also was intentional: the iris is about three times smaller than the size it would be in a normal human eye. I point this out because it could contribute to the reason why it looks odd.

About the side view: in a perfectly (or nearly) spherical object, the shades should be . In this case, the white area is irregular (not round). I think you should render the whole white circle and not worry about isolating white bits from the main white area (because they'd be between the red veins and the red shade. I hope you know what I mean).

And finally, the shades are probably too abrupt and might benefit from a little dithering.

I hope this was helpful  ;)

Hello! I'm YellowLime.
I'm from Spain, more specifically the Canary Islands (remember that Simpsons episode where Burns' canary flies away? No?) but you don't have to dumb your English down for me to understand. ;) I'm currently in college, studying computer science.

My username harks back to when I was another young teenager on an RPG Maker forum, and decided to use "YellowSlime" (slime as in, the RPG enemy). Then as I grew up, I found it dumb, and in a twist of genius , removed the S, ending up with "YellowLime". Food-related usernames are sort of a cliché, but I haven't thought up anything better yet. :P

Anyway, I went and signed up here, because there are a lot of very talented artists, others that really want to improve, a nice community in general, and the best forum emoticons I´ve ever seen. ::)
I hope to improve, and help others improve as well!  :D
